Last week we were in a faraway land. I think I have only just recovered. A whirlwind visit with family to Woolwich Arsenal to view Annie's grandfather Frank Medworth's paintings and prints in the Camberwell College archives, hundreds of them. From 1915, when he was at college there to the late 1920s. He taught at Camberwell, then Hull, then became the lecturer in charge of Art at what became Sydney Art School in Australia. He was a good friend of David Jones before and after WW1, they were both very damaged by it. Coincidentally my grandmother worked in the arsenal making bombs in WW2, I think it has changed a bit. We stayed in Shoreditch in Curtain Road, a road full of cabinet makers and joiners in 1900 where the London School of Furniture welcomed my great grandfather as an apprentice at the age of 13. It is now full of nightclubs... A fascinating visit, I am glad to be home.

Citrus, citrus, citrus... Our finger limes, aka caviar lime, have been wonderful this year, green and red. The lemons have produced too. Brought them inside for the colder months yesterday.

You got it Donna. Fermented chilli, garlic and onion with roasted tomatoes, cider vinegar and a bit of sugar. Hot stuff from the Pantry Fields kitchen. It is clearing my sinuses too... #hotsauce #fermentedchillisauce #chillisecurity #selfreliance

This is the most wonderful map. It took 17 years to complete from 1945. Idris Mathias, your map is the most beautiful map I have ever seen and I love a good map. The original is 60ft long and a yard wide and depicts Afon Teifi from Castell Newydd Emlyn to Aberteifi and the sea. This beautiful copy can be scrolled through and pored over for hours. The Llais yr Afon project which has produced it's own map is just as fascinating. A community project exploring ways to protect and restore this wonderful river, spearheaded by the amazing Theatre Byd Bach. Go and see both, in Cilgerran today or Llechryd or Cardigan. I couldn't make the show The Phantom Coracle at Cilgerran Castle last night involving Mari Mathias, Idris's great grand-daughter.
