I zipped back to London from my visit in Otford, and walked into the Lexington just as the first band were taking the stage. Panic Pocket, Sassyhiya, and Jeanines were all wonderful. Truly. Jeanines were the only band I’d seen before (due to the Atlantic Ocean). I fell in love with Sassyhiya about a year back when Skep Wax put out that limited 7” for “Kristen Stewart” and fell even harder for them when they released their first LP. Such a great band. Honestly one of my two or three very favorite records from last year. So finally seeing them live was a treat, and I honestly booked my airfare the day Skep Wax announced Sassyhiya would be added to the weekender. I got to catch up with Helen Sassyhiya a bit, too, which was lovely because she gave me so many of the best tips and recommendations I’ve had for my time here in London. Truly the highlight of night one for me. Night two was back at the Lexington with Would-Be-Goods, The Orchids, and Swansea Sound. Swansea Sound I’ve seen a bunch (thank God!) and I honestly never thought I’d see the other two, again because of the Atlantic Ocean with the added bit of periods with less activity. I saw the Softies play a Would-Be-Goods song in DC last autumn, it was a highlight of their set, and it was nice to now see the genuine article too. Lovely. I will genuinely forever think of them and smile when I see black and white striped shirts. Added bonus is a photo I mopped from the DJ, whilst the Orchids played on night two.
