Musicians have one job: to reveal music as magic. Music is a whole-body, whole-existence experience, engaging all senses, spiritual, visceral. Attempts to “show how music is magic” led me to expand Travel Poems: * The music is scored to sounds * Music and sounds take the listener on journeys to places + experiences * Stories spoken during live shows ground the music with imagery created by everyone in the room (and vice versa: the music grounds the stories too) * Each track has a companion written postcard * The Travel Poems teleporter booth embodies a physical place to explore music * And now, The Air Is Made Of Music (TAIMOM) calls upon a gang of diverse artists to interpret the music, sounds, writing, and installation in their own way. ✨ Finissage of The Air Is Made Of Music ✨ After an enchanting five-day journey, we celebrate the culmination of The Air Is Made Of Music, where the project’s uniqueness lies in the intricate interconnection of music and various art forms. This multi-sensory exhibition transformed the space into an immersive experience, with diverse mediums driving interpretations of music and evoking a sense of travel. We extend heartfelt gratitude to our talented exhibiting artists—Camilla Jackson, Carolina Boettner, Colin Aherne, Eric Pan, Hugo Faz, and Magdalena Paz—whose creative insights were essential to this project, creating a magical fusion that elevated the exhibition into a transformative artistic journey. The Ballery became an emotional space for visitors to explore different mediums and music. Thank you to everyone who joined us daily, contributing to the cozy atmosphere and filling our Flying Piano Tree with creative energy. Each evening at 7 PM, Eric Pan and special guests filled the air with improvised melodies, culminating in a symphonic finale. As a highlight of the finissage, we celebrated the release of the Travel Poems Chapter 3 album on October 6th. This night, along with The Air Is Made Of Music, marks not only a destination for Travel Poems but also the beginning of a larger journey, inviting all to explore the endless connections between art forms. I am flabbergasted and floored to be featured on For a Living for the debut of Season 10 (!!) The experience was marvelous, one of exploring different open spaces together and expertly guided by @daniel__lazar__ ’s ear, erudition, empathy... We discuss music-making, jazz, mixing other artforms into the experience, the ongoing journey of Travel Poems, what NFTs are all about (non-technically); we listen to tunes, toss around book recs, try word associations, then throw in some bandstand gossip, for the culture.
