井梅无锡面馆 — Michelin Bib Gourmand, but still very much a local comfort-food spot. Came for the 太湖三白大馄饨: big wontons, thin skin, clean seafood umami from fish, shrimp, and whitebait. Light broth, no heaviness, no fishiness — just warm, classic Wuxi flavor.
We also tried the tea-marinated egg on the side. Fragrant with yellow wine and tea, interesting and comforting, but the wontons are the real reason to come.
If you’re planning a food trip to Shanghai, this one’s worth bookmarking. Lines get long at lunch — go early or go late.

For just $6, I got a generous bowl of Bak Chor Mee with meepok. Noodles had a great bite, chilli was perfectly balanced, and honestly, it’s one of the better-value BCMs I’ve had around here. 🙌

Stepping Back on the Competition Mats After 5 Years and a Tough Road to Get Here
My first competition at black belt after a 5-year hiatus. It’s been a challenging journey—COVID, three knee injuries, two shoulder injuries, and a toe surgery. But I finally got healthy enough to compete again.
Lost my first round by just one advantage point—definitely not the result I envisioned, but I have no excuses. I trained hard, did everything I could to be ready, and although I fell short this time, I’m just grateful to be injury-free and back competing.
Huge thanks to @thewritingphysio and @centralosteopathysingapore for helping with my recovery, to @glen__rockstar for guiding my strength & conditioning, @haroldinhobjj for cornering me and to all my training partners and students @fieldassembly pushing me on the mats.
