In 2025, the U.S. Dept of Homeland Security waived dozens of bedrock federal laws to fast-track wall construction and awarded a $309 million contract to Fisher Sand & Gravel to construct aprox 27 miles of new border wall over the Coronado National Monument, across the San Rafael Valley and over the Patagonia mountains.
