A significant development in Havette’s practice is the introduction of a new body of sculptural works. These pieces combine West African ritual wood with European stone, nurturing a dialogue between distinct spiritual and cultural lineages. ‘ I Love It When You Beg’ is currently on view until 13 June at 21 East 3rd St. Lewinale Havette ‘Love Letter’, 2026 West African wood, Italian translucent alabaster iron, earth, acrylic pigment and white alabaster LH0186

Palo Gallery is pleased to present ‘I Love It When You Beg’, the second solo exhibition by Liberian painter Lewinale Havette at the gallery. Featuring a body of work across painting, work on paper, and sculpture, the exhibition uses the female body as its gravitational center. Havette offers a visceral exploration of how history and devotion shape presence, and how memory is held and transmitted across generations.  “In my practice, the female body remains a living archive where power, transcendence, rupture, love, death, war, and sex meet. In ‘I Love It When You Beg’, I explore how the body absorbs and carries histories of domination and devotion, existing as both sovereign and violated, fractured yet whole,” says Lewinale Havette. Join us for a celebratory reception with the artist on Friday, May 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Palo Gallery, located at 21 East 3rd Street, New York City.

Inspired by Yukio Mishima’s autobiographical essay Sun and Steel, this miniature paper installation reflects on the relationship between the body, discipline, and artistic expression. Throughout ‘Time Takes A Cigarette’, Yuval Pudik considers how physicality shapes identity, and how those ideas persist over time. First Day at Art Cologne Mallorca 2026 We are thrilled to be taking part, and moreover to be presenting the latest paintings by Leda Tsoutreli. Featuring fifteen works that continue her exploration of abstracted forms drawn the study and art history. This presentation introduces new materials and techniques, including a shift to linen and a more subdued palette. The booth centers on small scale paintings from The Little Big series, which contrast her earlier large works while maintaining their essence and pushing viewers to reconsider scale and detail. A final monochromatic blue painting, inspired by her ballpoint pen studies, distills her practice to gesture and composition, offering a focused meditation on mark-making and perception.
