Dit is het staatsiebed die te zien is in de bedkamer van koning-stadhouder Willem III. Hoge, indrukwekkende hemelbedden waren in de 17e eeuw dé manier om indruk te maken. Dankzij het kostbare zijden damast straalt het bed luxe uit. 🛏️✨

Sleep like a king 💤
This is the state bed on display in the bedroom of King-Stadtholder William III. Tall, impressive four-poster beds were the ultimate way to make an impression in the 17th century. Thanks to the precious silk damask, the bed exudes luxury. 🛏️✨
Van Willem naar... Willem? 🔁🖼️
Maandag ging het dubbelportret van Willem II en Maria Stuart (gemaakt door Anthony van Dyck) terug naar het @rijksmuseum , waar het straks weer in de vaste opstelling hangt.
Maar: de plek in de schilderijengalerij blijft niet leeg. Daar komt straks weer een oude bekende te hangen: het ruiterportret van koning‑stadhouder Willem III, geschilderd door Gottfried Kneller rond 1700. Eerst nog te zien in de bedkamer van koningin Mary, nu weer op de vertrouwde plek.

On Monday, the double portrait of Willem II and Mary Stuart (painted by Anthony van Dyck) has returned to the @rijksmuseum , where it will be part of the permanent display again.
But: the spot in the painting gallery won’t stay empty. A familiar face is moving back in: the equestrian portrait of King‑Stadtholder Willem III, painted by Gottfried Kneller around 1700. Prior on view in Queen Mary’s bedchamber, currently back in its familiar place.

De koning van het stallenplein is terug! 🦚👑
Na ruim twee jaar is hij weer terug en dat is luid en duidelijk te horen. Deze pauw maakt deel uit van een familie van twee mannetjes en twee vrouwtjes. Daarnaast zijn er drie jonge pauwen, die momenteel nog binnen verblijven.
👀Zelf de pauwen bewonderen? Het stallenplein is gratis te bezoeken, ook zonder ticket!
