Friends and I were there to witness the closing curtain of Red Bull’s TITUS ANDRONICUS yesterday. Watching Patrick take on something this epic—adapting it, leading it, and living it night after night—has been extraordinary. It’s brutal. It’s bloody. And somehow…also funny? (Shakespeare, you twisted genius.) I am in awe of the depth, the courage, and sheer stamina it took to ‘go there’, and then go even further. So proud of you, my love. ♥️

Vogue magazine did a lovely spread of Reeve and Eva’s wedding. Such great memories! They are now BOTH playing in “The Great Gatsby” on Broadway. Catch them while you can! And then walk a few blocks and catch me in “Titus Andronicus” for Red Bull Theatre—it’s like Martin Scorcese, Quentin Tarantino, Alfred Hitchcock, and Shakespeare in a thrilling mix! Nominated for Best Revival at the Lortels! @voguemagazine @voguephilippines @hadestown @hadestownuk @realpaigedavis @reevecarney @livevamaria @redbulltheater @signatureinnyc

“It would of course be nice if a drama about such extreme, unhinged violence and heedless tit-for-tat vengeance didn’t feel quite so applicable to the world we’re living in. Then again, Patrick Page, who adapted the script and plays the titular Roman general, and his director, Jesse Berger, have seized a moment when the depraved grotesqueries of this bombastically bloody tragedy can’t be easily dismissed. Page, though, is great fun to watch as the deranged yet charismatic Titus, merrily plotting revenge by way of cannibal pie. He wears chef’s whites to serve it up at a banquet, as an instrumental version of “What a Wonderful World” plays. And honestly, it’s awfully satisfying to see those creeps made into meat filling. Even if their mother, with a plate of them in front of her, would disagree.” -THE NEW YORK TIMES TITUS ANDRONICUS must close APRIL 19. Photo by Carol Rosegg

★★★★ “Revenge, in Titus Andronicus, is a dish best served family-style…The multiple limb hackings in Titus Andronicus are part of a smorgasbord of grotesque recrimination that also includes adultery, murder, rape and mutilation. It is probably safer to approach such a text with comic distance and an emotional attitude that is, essentially, hands-off. But Red Bull Theater, New York’s hottest-blooded classical company, rarely aims for safety. Its stylish new production of Titus, directed by troupe leader Jesse Berger and starring the formidably sonorous Patrick Page, sustains a difficult balance instead, employing smart gallows humor but taking the fundamental stakes dead seriously.” -TIME OUT NEW YORK TITUS ANDRONICUS must close APRIL 19.
