Honored. Energized. And more convinced than ever—this is our moment.

President of NMA- Dr. Roger A. Mitchell Jr. — creating spaces that drive action
I met amazing peers and spoke on a crisis we can no longer afford to ignore:
Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) & preventable limb loss
➡️ 20+ million Americans affected
➡️ Disproportionately impacting underserved communities
➡️ Driving avoidable amputations, disability, and cost
PAD isn’t just a disease—
it’s a system failure when missed.
But momentum is building:
• ARC Act gaining traction
• Illinois SB1418 passed
• Georgia HB1122 advancing
Policy is catching up to the problem.
We are shifting:
➡️ Amputation → Limb preservation
➡️ Fragmentation → Coordination
➡️ Awareness → Action
From the Mississippi Delta to national policy—we’ve seen what works.
Early detection.
Multidisciplinary care.
Community-based screening.
The blueprint exists. Now we scale it.
If you’re in policy, healthcare, or industry—this is the moment.
Because behind every stat is a life…
and a limb that can still be saved.
We’re not waiting anymore.

The numbers behind PAD-related amputations are alarming—especially across the South and the Mississippi Delta. This interactive heat map helps visualize where amputations are happening and why awareness, screening, and timely vascular care are critical to saving limbs and lives.

Honored to share the story of Bloodlines Mississippi at the Cardiovascular Research Technologies (CRT) Conference this weekend.
For me, this film is not just about medicine — it’s about people, place, and purpose.
Bloodlines Mississippi tells the story of a region fighting back against preventable suffering — and reminds us that behind every statistic is a life, a family, and a future worth protecting.
Grateful to the CRT community for providing a platform (Disparities in Interventional Cardiology) to amplify this message. The momentum around peripheral artery disease awareness, limb preservation, and health equity continues to grow — and we must keep pushing forward.
The work continues. The mission continues. 🙏🏿

It was an honour to have our film #BloodlinesMississippi screen at the Morehouse School of Medicine to help raise awareness of the dangers of Peripheral Artery Disease in at risk communities.
Leading physician and film protagonist @padadvocate spoke very movingly on the day - “Watching the film reminded me of why I wanted to pursue medicine specifically to help Black people around the world. It deepened my desire to become a physician-scientist to inform the medical community better and support patients from the most disenfranchised populations.”
Bloodlines, Mississippi directed by #CrystalKayiza, will be coming to screens soon…
