Ok, here is the 2026 Children’s Book Week poster uncropped (somehow my first post cut off the bottom). I included as many book spines as possible—please let any authors know if you see their book here (I can only tag 20). I’d like them to see how painstakingly and lovingly I painted their book because I believe all our work is important.💜 Sign up to participate in Children’s Book Week on May 4-10 and you can get the poster FREE (link in my profile) #BooksGetCurious @littlebrownyoungreaders @everychildareader

Well, “The Gate, the Girl and the Dragon” hit the list at #2! On both Indie list and The NY Times! 😮 I kind of felt shy to post this because it seemed sort of braggy but I know this wouldn’t have happened without all of you preordering, spreading the word and sharing about the book. There was A LOT of hard work to get this book there. 💜🙏So thank you. Truly.

Hey, look at that! So excited to see “Where the Mountain Meets the Moon” is one of @esquire ‘s 50 Best Fantasy Books of All Time!!!! There isn’t a lot of children’s lit on that list (“Game of Thrones” and “Stardust” is in there) so I am very, very honored. This is especially fun because it’s 15 year anniversary of the book! I feel like I should do something to celebrate— what do you think I should do? Special anniversary bookplates? Limited time print? Let me know your ideas!! /entertainment/books/g39385874/best-fantasy-books/

I did it! I finally ran to the marsh again. Between weather, time, and changing exercise focus ( 💪) I haven’t done this run in a long time. But it’s my birthday and I felt like I needed to mark the occasion with it. So green!

Because it’s #aanhpi month, the @thehornbook shared a link to my 2022 Legacy Award Acceptance speech. Even 4 years later, it is still poignant to me. I share some excerpts of it here with you, in hopes that it reaches you as well. You can read the entire speech here: /story/articlesopinion/2022-childrens-literature-legacy-award-acceptance-by-grace-lin

Want a frivolous/shallow break from the infuriating/heartbreaking news? Well, it’s my birthday this weekend and a @warbyparker just opened up nearby so I was thinking of getting new glasses? Which frames do you think I should get? 🤓Note—my teen looked at all of them and said she preferred me in the ones I am already wearing, 😹so no change is an option as well!

Did you see I have a new book coming out? Yes, “The Little Stone Buddha” comes out on Oct and I admit I am kind of nervous, given this political climate, to have a book with the word ‘Buddha’ in the title. But @alvinalingbooks and I hope that there are still readers out there for it…So let the Preorder Campaign begin! Right now, I am spending my evenings signing boxes of prints! These are prints that will be included with the book for a special indie store giveaway my publisher is doing. Ask your local indie store to participate!! And,as usual, I am doing preorder goodies through my own local stores (see my link.tree). Choose between free virtual classroom visit, lenticular sticker and keychain pillow plush! You’ll be hearing more about each soon (and often, apologies ahead of time for the shameless self-promo), but you can preorder anytime—even now!😁

The AAV retreat @boydsmills was such a lovely bubble that returning to the “real world” has been hard. Here are some photos of flowers to remind us all that this messy world is beautiful, too.

Had our annual Asian American Voices retreat @boydsmills this past weekend! It’s such a joy to be with other Asian American kidlit authors, each of us trying to do our best work and support each other. Social media is okay but it can never offer the true kindness and connection of gatherings like this. So much gratitude to @debbi_michiko_florence , @boydsmills and all who attend, have attended and will attend for giving me the opportunity to be a part of a community.

Grace and Alvina are joined by special guest Michele Kirichanskaya to discuss queer representation in children’s literature. They talk a little bit about the history of publishing queer publishing, including the first book published with a gay character, and legendary editor Ursula Nordstrom who helped break taboos in publishing. They touch on what publishing is doing well and how they could be better, touching on graphic novels and their favorite queer books. Michele also talks about their first book, ACE NOTES. For the Fortune Cookie segment, they talk about what they’ve all been reading lately, and then end as always with what they’re grateful for.
