As the newly elected PACE General Rapporteur for the rights of LGBTI persons, I will continue to fight for equalities globally. My statement on the International Day Against Homophobia, Lesbophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia and Intersexphobia below: “The protection of the rights of LGBTI persons lies at the heart of our democratic values” “In recent years, we have seen a rise in attacks against LGBTI persons, restrictions to freedom of assembly and attempts to portray the rights of LGBTI persons as being in competition or contradiction with the rights of others, in particular women’s rights. But this is a deliberate misconception; equality for both groups is mutually reinforcing, and any attempts to divide people are an attack on our human rights. Much more needs to be done to raise awareness on the fact that attacks against LGBTI rights are genuine threats to everyone’s human rights and to the principles of democracy,” “The rights of LGBTI persons must not be put at risk through political instrumentalisation and stigmatisation during electoral campaigns or in political speeches. On the contrary, we as parliamentarians have a special responsibility to ensure that political discourses never incite hate. There can be no place for discrimination and hatred against LGBTI persons in our democratic societies. So for this International Day Against Homophobia, Lesbophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia and Intersexphobia, I want to stand in solidarity with all of my LGBTI community and demand equality, inclusion, visibility and human rights for LGBTI persons everywhere,” #idahobit

Today, a vision of our Assembly first expressed in April 2022 became a concrete reality. The Committee of Ministers adopted the resolution establishing a Special Tribunal to fight against impunity for the crime of aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, with 36 member states already expressing their intention to join this historic initiative. On this important occasion, I reaffirmed to the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, @sybiha.andrii , our unwavering support for and solidarity with Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression, and in its pursuit of a just and lasting peace. đŸ‡ȘđŸ‡șđŸ€đŸ‡ș🇩 #PACE #councilofeurope #Ukraine

Thank you, @yulia_navalnaya , for an engaging and inspiring discussion on how Europe can support Russia’s future transformation into a free, democratic, peaceful and accountable country—one that respects the rights of its citizens and poses no threat to its neighbours. I look forward to strengthening our cooperation. #pace #councilofeurope #russia #future

We all agree, democracy is under threat. The @councilofeurope is rolling out a new Pact to engage everyone, especially the young, in the fight back. More from @damien.cottier , Vice-Chair of PACE’s special committee on the Pact

#AI is moving fast — the rules must catch up. PACE calls for transparency in AI training models, fair remuneration for creators, and clear labelling to tackle deepfakes. Innovation must not come at the expense of creativity. #PACEspring2026
