I can’t wait until we’re afraid of nothing 50x75” soft pastel and pencil on paper ⭐️ Coming 🔜 @ily2.ily2 NYC ⭐️ The Nights are Now, a collection of drawings made this winter during a period of big grief feelings scored and underscored by Sharon Van Etten’s 2014 album Are We There, which this piece takes its name from. This drawing is also a direct quote of RB Kitaj’s painting The Wedding, made between 1989-93, depicting the marriage between Kitaj and the painter Sandra Fisher (last slide). Opening reception Thursday, May 14th, from 6-8p! So many thank you’s to Jeanine and Rosie and the team at ILY2 for the space and resources and intention to put this work into the world. More to come, but if you’re around, I’d love if you could join me in celebrating my first NYC solo show! 💙 work photos via ILY2 and The Wedding photo ©️RB Kitaj Estate

Big time grateful to @yuccavalleymaterial @heidi_schwegler and @bullseyeglass via The Ford Family Foundation for my two week residency spent lost wax glass casting in Yucca Valley. Heidi is building something major and deeply connective out here and deserves all the support and hype possible. Thinking through desire, discards, and luminosity. Pieces for a future project. And with a delightfully serendipitous roll of the dice, I got to spend that time alongside my UO professor from over a decade ago @colinhives . Grateful for time with the desert land and everyone I met while passing through. Such a gift to start getting to know a new material in such a special place <3

Scylla Dreaming (Mad Dogs) 40x33” Soft pastel and pencil on paper A nod to Ovid’s telling of Scylla’s transformation at the hands of Circe. Walking into cursed waters, she looks down to her loins to discover the heads of six mad, snarling and thrashing dogs. As she runs towards the shore, away from the newly formed beasts, she realizes that she’s not running away from them, but with them. In this moment she can either embrace this transformation, or forever run from herself, and go mad in the process. On view @doublevgallery Paris through mid March. Last image ©️ JC Lett

Just a Look 30x22” Soft pastel and pencil on paper Excited to soft launch my upcoming solo show ‘This House is on Fire!’ with @doublevgallery opening in Paris at the end of next month. It was a challenging one to make, and I’m still learning from all of its stops and starts and the fresh wound openings it’s left me to pursue. What started as musings around trans body horror morphed into a long look at the grotesque, with its well-worn push/pull cycle of attraction/repulsion, and as of possibly yesterday, I realized that this series has also been a subconscious inspection of my own recent transitions (not the gender kind! Although, probably that always too), uprooting, isolation, and change in all of its minutia and bigness, often collapsing in on each other in dizzying ways. More to come, and even though I’m nervous about sharing this kind of strange and sometimes off-putting collection of drawings, I’m also deeply excited to move forward with them and hopefully find some connection through them :) Here’s to new cycles. Happy nearly new year <3 p.s. I will be in Paris for the opening! Catch me there if you’re around 🥖 p.p.s. This piece is possibly most similar to previous work, so know that some new-to-me-and-to-you work is on the horizon!
