@zona84punkrock at the Sojus Boat Tour in Monheim
I originally planned to skip the Sojus Boat Tour this year. But Zona 84 and
@thecourettes ended up being the deciding factor for me to go.
The boat was even bigger than last year… unfortunately, so were the drink prices. Beer was still reasonably priced at €3.50 to €4, which is totally fine.
However, after a short time, only warm beer was available, which is a real dealbreaker for me. When I tried to switch to cola, I was shocked: 11€ for a 1-liter bottle? Are you kidding me? I’m usually the last person to complain about prices, but that’s just outrageous. Sorry, but no sorry.
Another major issue: by the evening, there was no vegan food left and at the same time, there was no way to leave the boat.
That’s just poor organization.
Now to the good part: Zona 84. The band had only arrived in Germany the day before and had already played a secret gig in Düsseldorf that same night. Normally, you’d expect a band to be completely exhausted after that kind of travel but not these guys. They literally made the boat shake, and the crowd was out of control from the very first minute.
Since 2016, the musicians from Rosario have been touring Germany regularly, building a loyal fanbase – thanks in part to appearances at the Rock and Roll Butterfahrt and shows with
@dietotenhosen_official . But above all, their success comes from their authentic presence and socially critical lyrics, combined with cool, laid-back guitar riffs strongly reminiscent of The Clash.
In the end, it’s a mixed experience: musically outstanding, but with clear organizational flaws. Worth it for the bands but there’s definitely room for improvement overall.
