Ozomatli Going to see @ozomatli is not like going to any concert. It’s like stepping into a block party with a thousand of your best friends you haven’t met yet. You can’t help but move; nobody is standing around with their hands in their pockets. The music hits and suddenly you’re part of the engine, moving, singing, laughing, pulled into the current whether you planned to be or not. And then there’s that moment. The one every Ozo fan knows. The entire band leaves the stage and pours into the crowd like a technicolor marching band of funk and joy. People part like the Red Sea, and the band flows through, horns, drums, voices, swirling around you. You’re no longer watching the show. You’re inside it. This was another standout from my mid‑2000s concert era (man, I went to a lot of shows back then). This was at @lefthanddenver in Longmont for their second annual Culture Jam festival. Looking back at these images, you can feel the vibe and the sense of community this band creates. Shout‑outs to @paletamama and @dcandelarie for adding this listening party to the playlist of my life.
