True to form Team Twilley assembled at the start of Dunwich Dynamo woefully underprepared yet alarmingly overexcited. Even
@owwaters10 had two pints before we started!
London Fields —> Dunwich (185km) through the night.
With one garmin between us mapping was a concern, and if you’ve got a lime bike from CJ to Northcote Road you’d have done more cycling than
@chriss_davies in 2025.
We were reassured by our fellow DunRunners that mapping wouldn’t be an issue: ‘just follow the red light in front’. We needn’t have worried with
@jarris._ ’ red light district experience, leading the charge out to Epping and beyond the M25 with distinction.
Well, almost without issue.. Chrissy D’s polite reminder of the Highway Code to a fellow rider was met with the same flurry of verbals you might expect the Gorrila’s manager to dish out to the referee. Chris’ argument was strong until he said “but have you done a 70.3”. Not my mate.
Credit to
@benrobbins11 for really going the extra mile in raising awareness for a great cause too. Decked out in the unmistakable
@myname5doddie tartan jersey, Brob forgot to unclip at stop one, taking a static tumble and ending up underneath his bike - making sure everyone in view knew just how good a bloke he is. You’d think we’d have clipping out nailed by now. Wrong.
Unfortunately
@calzerrr didn’t manage to see that. In fact, we’re not too sure how much he saw of the cycle at all after losing his glasses at the first stop. The hourly text updates to his missus must have been incoherent - mind you, a voice note isn’t much clearer with that dorrick accent.
Not clipping out wasn’t the first rookie error from Team Twilley either. Understanding daytime temp in London V evening temp in the country… shoutout to
@jakekiing_ for playing a blinder here and calling anyone a pussy in the chat for talking about taking extra layers, only to bring a jacket and wear it for 75% of the ride. Fair play, you got us good.
Given it was a PR ride for everyone, involved a few beers and cycling on zero sleep through the night, it was remarkably uneventful.
I’d even go as far to saying the boys enjoyed themselves.
Say it quietly but we may even be back….
