It's been 9 years since I stepped away from music being a huge driving factor in my life and longer still since I really felt kinship with it.
This past weekend hitting up @zegema_beach fest in Vancouver was such a beautiful reminder of how joyful a leap of faith can feel. Didn't know my hosts, didn't know most of the bands, wasn't sure if I would feel well and truly "aged out" once and for all.
I didn't take nearly enough photos as I was too busy laughing and bopping.
Thank you Will and April, thank you @serrate.nc , thank you to everyone who made the whole weekend such a welcoming and revitalizing ride. 10/10 would do again.
Had a really fun interview with @equalizingxdistort this week discussing Soybomb and it's impact on the Toronto diy scene. Reminded me how much fun I had doing the punk thing even though this was me basically every day on tour.
Shout out 2013
2016
Something about twink death
Something about finding people who want you around
Something about constantly struggling with feeling hurt but at least getting to make art about it.
Things are a lot more boring but a lot more stable now.
2025 was extremely long and weird. I feel like I survived a tumultuous decade.
- Went on my honeymoon to San Francisco. Feared the robo-pocalypse but willing to fight for every single day of joy I get with my wife.
- Broke my finger in the Spring leaving me recovering/ pondering my age & increased fragility.
- Moved to CK full time to put down my roots. I struggle with the quiet but am slowly finding my way.
- Modestly restarted my label (@amountainfar ) after 12 years (?!) and not to overstate it, but the @grimharvest_diy demo is amazing
- Began the process of healing a damaged long, meaningful friendship.
- Kept my cool in the face of some shittyness and decided to actively pursue healing instead of conflict.
- Got fired for the first time in my life for making a pro worker joke.
- Lost another person who meant a lot to me.
- Played entirely too many video games/ argued with my dog.
In summary, this year I have felt like both Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush.
Life is only getting weirder. Thanks for being here
This little freak is 2 years old today! Can't believe such a whirlwind of sass and chaos could add so much to my life.
Happy birthday Daffodil 💐
You are so annoying but I'll love you forever.
