Julia Samuels' (@crayolajulia ) 16 Colors from One Block transforms a single carved linoleum block into a full spectrum of layered possibilities. Printed in four rotating layers, each pass shifts 90º and introduces a new color relationship, ultimately revealing every possible color combination created through the process: 15 combinations plus the paper itself.
This four-layer linocut relief print reflects Samuels’ ongoing interest in repetition, variation, and the unexpected complexity that can emerge from simple systems.
