MEDIA SCENOGRAPHY WORKSHOP Spatial Experiments — Projection & Space Delighted to be invited to lead next week’s Media Scenography Workshop at HfG Karlsruhe together with the students of ADSZ, Ausstellungsdesign und Szenografie. A five-day intensive workshop exploring media scenography through projection, moving image, spatial structures, light, and immersive environments. During the workshop we will work inside the large studio space through a hands-on process of spatial experimentation between physical space and digital systems, developing temporary architectures and site-specific environments where projection becomes an active element of transformation. Looking forward to sharing this process together. @hfg_ka @hfg_karlsruhe_adsz #MediaScenography #ProjectionMapping #SpatialDesign #ImmersiveArt #Scenography MediaArt Projection InstallationArt DigitalScenography HfGKarlsruhe Workshop SpatialExperiments

How can digital technologies transform the physical environment into a dynamic experience? This three-hour workshop with Simone Serlenga ( @overlapping_studio ) is an introduction to media scenography as a spatial practice, blending real-world examples with hands-on experimentation. Participants will explore how generative visual effects and projection mapping shape perceptions and create immersive environments, using MadMapper as a primary tool. Ideal for architects, designers, and visual artists looking to master the intersection of scenography, spatial design, and digital media. When: 26.04 | 10:00 Where: Hall 4, @toplocentrala , Sofia Tickets:

Media Scenography Mephistopheles – Optical Drama in 6 Scenes A visual opera for façade, light, and illusion. scene 06 epilogue „When all falls silent, only light remains.“ narrative:
Back in his study, Faust—now an old man—reflects on a life that brought him neither peace nor fulfillment. While Mephistopheles urges him toward yet another illusion, Faust resists. Grasping the Gospel, he calls on God’s mercy. At that moment, he dies—not in despair, but in grace. Above him, a form rises slowly; beneath him, another collapses. Faust is redeemed. Mephistopheles disappears into the shadows. Only silence, only light. Visual Language: Fluid shapes of gold and crimson rise and fall across the façade like opposing souls Monumental busts of Goehte and Mephistopheles face each other, rendered in translucent wireframe Wisps of gold and burgundy drift through space, like spirit-forms in ascension or collapse The façade becomes a theater of introspection, where ego and architecture dissolve together
Color Accent: White gold, deep burgundy, soft lavender Unselect project for Genius Loci Festival Weimar Created with Cinema 4D, Unreal Engine & TouchDesigner.

Media Scenography Mephistopheles – Optical Drama in 6 Scenes A visual opera for façade, light, and illusion. Act IV- Scene 05 “Beauty is a dream—and the dream disintegrates.” Narrative Note:
Mephistopheles leads Faust into a vision of Classical Greece, now reimagined as a sterile digital landscape. Helena of Troy and Pantalis sing to the night. Helena appears, majestic yet fractured, surrounded by echoes of dancers and ruins. Faust is overwhelmed by the purity of this ideal world, but Helena is haunted by the destruction of Troy. Their meeting is brief, suspended in illusion. Faust declares his love—but Helena, like the myth she represents, begins to dissolve. The dream collapses  Visual Language: The façade is reshaped into a contemporary digital acropolis—rigid, abstract, monumental The myth of Helena begin to fragment in slow motion, progressively disintegrating into dust The landscape becomes a synthetic terrain of memory and collapse
Color Accent: Burnt sienna, ash grey, bronze-pink highlights Unselect project for Genius Loci Festival Weimar Created with Cinema 4D, Unreal Engine & TouchDesigner.

Media Scenography Workshop Space & Media: Designing Interaction Light. Space. Presence. Three days at @abaveneziascenografia exploring how media and scenography can transform space into something alive. From concept and spatial thinking, to surfaces, projection and matter, to prototypes, mapping and shared moments of discovery. Together we explored how light, media and architecture can interact, turning space into a responsive environment shaped by perception and movement. Grateful to the students for their curiosity, openness and energy, and to the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia for hosting this experience. Special thanks to the MadMapper team for their generous support and for providing the software that made the workshop possible. @mad_mapper Special thanks to Emanuele Sinisi for making this possible. @emanuelesinisi_setdesigner sound_Deixa A Girar Girar — Ladji Remix “Let the session spin, let the movement continue.” @abavenezia @overlapping.studio @madmapper #MediaScenography #ProjectionMapping #DigitalScenography #SpatialDesign #ImmersiveArt MediaArt StageDesign ABAVenezia BerlinArt MadMapper

Interactive Media and Installations — Hands-On — End of Semester Exhibition 12–15 February 2026 Lichtbrücke 4–3, HfG Karlsruhe The exhibition presents works developed within the Hands-On Interactive Media and Installations seminar at HfG Karlsruhe, led by MK Vertretungsprofessor Simone Serlenga. The projects are shown as part of the end-of-semester exhibition. Over the course of the semester, students engaged with artistic and technical strategies of interactive media and installations, investigating how visuals, interactive systems, light, and sound shape space, spatial experience, and audience perception. The exhibited works include audio-visual, interactive installations. Some works are presented as linear video works created using a variety of digital tools, while others take the form of interactive installations that respond to audience presence and input. The works treat interactivity as an aesthetic strategy – meaning is formed through feedback loops between human presence, technical systems, and space. Each work is presented according to its individual technical and conceptual setup. Media Scenography Mephistopheles – Optical Drama in 6 Scenes A visual opera for façade, light, and illusion. Act II - Scene 03 “Love is a dream. The world dances—no one leads the waltz.” Narrative Note:
Faust, now young again, seduces the innocent Margareta, while Mephistopheles courts her neighbor Martha. Margareta asks Faust if he believes in God; he replies he seeks a deeper truth in nature, love, and mystery. Faust persuades her to drug her mother so they may be alone. Later, Mephistopheles leads Faust to the Brocken mountain, where witches gather for their Sabbath. Seated on a throne of stone, the devil lifts a glass orb and proclaims his disdain for the world. Laughing, he shatters it—unleashing a furious orgiastic dance. Faust, disturbed, sees a vision of Margareta with her throat slit as the dance reaches its climax.  Visual Language: A forest of point-cloud flora in acid green slowly dissolves into a dark, chaotic void Bodies swirl and merge into a demonic dance, distorted and mirrored in spectral symmetry The scene shifts from natural beauty to ritual frenzy
Color Accent: Pale pink → acid green, white, spectral shadows Unselect project for Genius Loci Festival Weimar Created with Cinema 4D, Unreal Engine & TouchDesigner.

Media Scenography Mephistopheles – Optical Drama in 6 Scenes A visual opera for façade, light, and illusion. Act I - Scene 02 Among the crowd dances deception. The pact is not written—it is engraved in light.” Narrative Note:
In this act, the setting is moved from Frankfurt to Weimar, creating a direct connection with the projection site, becoming a stage of illusion During Easter celebrations in the heart of the city, Faust notices the disturbing presence of a cloaked friar—Mephistopheles in disguise. Back in his study, Faust is drawn toward a vision of divine order, but the intruder reveals himself. He is the Spirit of Negation, and he offers Faust a deal: boundless experience in exchange for his soul. Faust accepts. The pact is sealed. Reality is no longer what it was. Visual Language: Gridded distortions warp the cityscape into a digital mirage, evoke a festive city overtaken by doubt A monumental Mephistophele figure stands at the center, arms lifted, caught in a radiant net Aerial view of the city of Weimar converted into a point cloud Demonic forms rise from glowing portals, sealing the pact through light and geometry
Color Accent: White energy lines, deep red shadows Unselect project for Genius Loci Festival Weimar Created with Cinema 4D, Unreal Engine & TouchDesigner.
