I had a wonderful time in France! I'm grateful to @legospeleditions and @raphael.jaudon at @universitecaen for inviting me to speak about my book in Paris and Caen, and for all the kind people I met in both cities.
We saw old churches, blue doors, crumbling graves, scary Haussmann architecture, saints relics, headless statues, a wizard-themed vegan pub, lilacs (my favorite scent), Proust's bed, Gertrude Stein's desk, signs saying not to touch the grass in parks, and many coffee shops.
I'm very excited to be traveling to Caen, France to give a talk based on my book! I'll be reading excerpts from it, but also have new thoughts on The Conjuring and Hereditary, and how they envision spirituality or its absence.
Religion and horror: definitely still an issue in this time of war, conspiracy, Christian nationalism, doomsaying, and pleas from the Pope.

Next week, I'm heading to France (for the first time!) to do a music/literary event in Paris and speak about horror films at the University of Caen. I'll post more about those events soon - but if you have recommendations of things to do in either city, please tell me! I like cemeteries, old churches, being outside, flowers, coffee, and vegan food.
Omens and Charms shirts for sale! There are only 9 left in this design from 2022. I may print more, or I may just move on to new designs. You can order on my Bandcamp and I'll figure out how to ship them myself. 🧙🏻
