We were honored to join @djshishiiii on her return to @thelotradio , where she used her platform to educate her listeners about harm reduction and bystander intervention.
Alongside @laurenflax from Last Night a Deejay Saved My Life, and Outsmart NYC’s own @scar_thompson , @djkaykay47 , and @nina_vicious , we had a deep convo about harm reduction, bystander intervention, and what it means to show up for each other from the DJ booth to the dancefloor.
We’re grateful to Shi Shi not only for inviting us, but for turning a traumatic experience into purpose and connecting us with venues ready to take action.

It was such an honor to represent @outsmartnyc alongside @djkaykay47 for an amazing workshop with @thisisfemmehouse and @sisters_in_sound . Getting to share virtual space with artists, DJs, organizers, and community members who genuinely care about making nightlife safer, more accountable, and more welcoming meant a lot to me.
We talked about consent culture, community care, conflict de-escalation, and harm prevention, but one of my favorite parts was how collaborative the conversation became. Workshop attendees helped spark an important discussion around creating clearer consent and accountability expectations during the booking process between artists, venues, managers, promoters, and bookers. We’ve already started working on ideas for a contract addendum around that, with more details to come soon.
Really thankful to everyone who showed up, shared their experiences, asked thoughtful questions, and helped imagine what safer spaces can look like in practice.

OutSmart NYC team members @djkaykay47 and @nina_vicious led conversations around consent culture, community care, conflict de-escalation, harm prevention, and creating safer nightlife spaces for artists, staff, and attendees alike.
One of the most exciting outcomes from the workshop was beginning work on a contract addendum that helps make codes of consent and accountability clearer between artists, bookers, venue owners, managers, and promoters throughout the booking process. More details on that coming soon 👀
