Working for Icon Construction, Landscape Plus delivered the soft landscaping, furniture, and playground packages for the mixed-use Seafarers development, located on the iconic North Wharf on the banks of the Yarra River. The heritage aspect of this site presented unique challenges for this development, which pays homage to the rich maritime history in the area. This project was carefully resourced to integrate with the civil and hard landscaping components of the Seafarers development. The 3500 square metre Seafarers Rest precinct was officially handed over to the City of Melbourne in mid-2025.

Congratulations to David Wieloch, the Service Manager at Outside Ideas and Landscape Plus, who is celebrating 10 years at the company today. David is responsible for maintaining our fleet of more than 250 vehicles and machines at our warehouse in Regency Park, as well as overseeing his team of mechanics and yard hands. He works closely with our Operations Manager for the procurement of new equipment and is responsible for making sure every vehicle and piece of machinery is serviced and ready when a site needs it. David has played a big role in our company as we have grown over the last 10 years. We like to run lean, so making sure we own the right equipment and run it as efficiently as possible is key. David is a very important part of our company, and we are lucky to have him. Thank you David. Aaron Superina

Outside Ideas is delivering detailed architectural concrete and landscaping works as part of the Green Heart project at Woodcroft College for Mossop Construction + Interiors, with Swanbury Penglase engaged as the Architect and Landscape Architect. The concrete features include multi-tiered terracing, staircases, exposed aggregate pavements, and curved walling. The Outside Ideas concrete agi truck gives us complete control over the frequency and timing of pours, ensuring we can maintain our high standards of quality and consistency while keeping the construction program on track.

This week, Jack Rogers celebrates 10 years at Outside Ideas. I remember convincing Jack to come and join our team in 2015. He was very loyal to his employer and hung up on me when I asked him a second time if he wanted to join us. I eventually wore him down, and he started as a Site Manager on our civil projects. Jack quickly demonstrated that he is a true leader and was assigned to some of our largest projects, including Festival Plaza in Adelaide and Arden Station for Landscape Plus in Melbourne - both $20 million projects. In 2024, Jack became the first person in our company to be promoted to the role of Area Manager, where he now mentors Site Managers across our business. Jack is a very important part of our management team and has played a huge role in enabling Outside Ideas to deliver across so many sites at once. Thank you Jack for eventually hearing me out and becoming such an important part of our team. Aaron Superina

The Kings Reserve redevelopment for the City of West Torrens is now officially underway. This week, members of the Outside Ideas project team attended the sod-turning ceremony alongside Mayor Michael Coxon, CEO Angelo Catinari, and Tim Conybeare of ASPECT Studios. Treasurer and Member for West Torrens Hon. Tom Koutsantonis was also in attendance. In recognition of International Women’s Day, the women of Outside Ideas and Landscape Plus share what it’s really like to work in construction. As the saying goes, ‘you can’t be what you can’t see’. We’re proud that our team members are powerful role models for the next generation of female construction workers, showing what’s possible and inspiring others to consider a career that may have otherwise seemed out of reach.

Mossop engaged Outside Ideas to deliver both the structural concreting and the landscaping packages for the Trinity College campus at St Yves in Roseworthy, designed by Swanbury Penglase. The external works featured a new playground, sports fields, sports equipment, shade structures, paving, garden beds, irrigation, and a covered outdoor learning area (COLA). This project also features several custom elements completed by Outside Ideas, including nature play equipment, furniture, and timber play structures. The structural concreting works delivered by Outside Ideas included three separate buildings: a gymnasium, an Early Learning Centre, and both storeys of the new R-6 campus building.

Working for Lendlease, Landscape Plus has completed the landscaping that covers the 70 internal courtyards plus external works at the $1.1 billion Frankston Hospital redevelopment. Building meaningful relationships in the social procurement space is a key focus for Landscape Plus. The social impact team at Lendlease has been a great support to our business, which helps us build key relationships with organisations like Marriott Support Services, a leading social enterprise that provides meaningful employment for people with intellectual disabilities. For the Frankston Hospital project, Marriott’s workforce supported Landscape Plus through the on-ground installation of over 32,000 plants. Cultivating inclusive workforce participation, Marriott’s involvement brings real value to this project beyond the work itself. Landscape Plus is proud to have contributed to the development of the largest ever health infrastructure investment in Melbourne’s south-east.
