Outride’s journey began with a simple question: can cycling improve how kids feel and learn during the school day? 🧠    Early research revealed promising effects like improved mood and attention after riding. Those findings inspired the development of Riding for Focus, a program now in hundreds of schools, expanding access to biking and its benefits to tens of thousands of students each year.    Today, our work has expanded beyond the classroom. We collaborate on and support research examining cycling’s role in fostering social, emotional, and cognitive health for youth, their communities, and aging populations. Through programs and community grants, we translate evidence into action, by providing opportunities for more people to experience these benefits for themselves.     Join us in shaping the future of this work. Become a part of the Outride Research Pool - a growing community advancing knowledge on cycling and wellbeing. 🚲 linkinbio to learn more.   _____________________  Outride is a nonprofit organization that works to empower all people to experience the social, emotional, and cognitive benefits of cycling through research efforts, rider education programs, and community grant funding.  _____________________  #Outride #WhatWillYouOutride #Research

What is Riding for Focus? 🚲  Riding for Focus (R4F) is a rider education program developed as a result of Outride’s initial research findings. Organizations are provided with everything they need to get youth riding including @iamspecialized Rockhopper bikes, helmets, curriculum, instructor training, and an opportunity to attend our annual professional development event. To date, Outride has 400+ R4F sites in the US and Canada helping youth improve their well-being through cycling!  🚲 100% of R4F teachers would recommend the program to other schools .  🚲 89% of R4F teachers report students being more attentive and focused after participating in R4F.  🚲 83% of R4F teachers report improved student attendance and engagement in class.  Interested in bringing this program to your school?  Learn more about R4F and check out Outride’s work in our linkinbio  _____________________  Outride is a nonprofit organization that works to empower all people to experience the social, emotional, and cognitive benefits of cycling through research efforts, rider education programs, and community grant funding.  _____________________  #Outride #WhatWillYouOutride #RidingforFocus

Have you ever thought about what your brain is doing while you’re on the bike? We don’t often consider the incredible work happening behind the scenes, but your brain is constantly adapting, processing, and powering every pedal stroke.  🚲✨🔍 Our latest blog, How Biking Rewires & Rejuvenates Your Brain, breaks down the neuroscience of riding and explores how movement supports long-term brain health. A few standout benefits of biking include:  • Strengthening and preserving key neural pathways 🧬    • Releasing neurotransmitters that boost mood and motivation 😁 • Increased focus and attention, supported by changes in brain activity 📈 • Supporting the brain’s natural cleanup processes 🫶 🧠 Comment “BRAINS ON BIKES” to learn more and explore the science behind your brain on bikes!   #Outride #Research #BrainsOnBikes

✨ A Bike & Roll to School Day Celebration! ✨ Seven Hills Middle School has been building a strong bike culture for years, and it shows. In 2022, their PE & Bike Tech program, led by teacher Ben Preston (@bicyclerecycleprogram ), launched the Outride Riding for Focus program, giving students access to a fleet of @iamspecialized bikes, helmets, and riding curriculum, allowing them to experience movement, confidence, and freedom during the school day. 👏 And the power of the bike has continued to take hold of the community... 1) Partnerships between schools have been formed to share the joy of riding through @bikebusworld ! Now, each Friday, the @nevada_city_bike_bus bikes through Nevada City, CA to school with students from Seven Hills (@seven.hills.school ) and Deer Creek (@deercreek_elementary ) riding together. The rides are supported by parents, teachers, and neighbors. It’s joyful community in action, bringing, the kind of energy every morning deserves. These Bike Buses have up to 100 students riding each week - rain or shine! Here you’ll see the one and only @coachbalto , founder of The Bike Bus World kickstarting the ride and helping the younger students from @deercreek_elementary get access to @woombikes for the rides! 🚲🚌 2) Ben’s Bike Tech program teaches students how to refurbish bikes and donate them to people experiencing homelessness, turning hands‑on learning into real community support. Students aren’t just riding; they’re gaining mechanical skills, learning responsibility, and seeing firsthand how bikes can change lives. 🛠️ 3) After school mountain biking club has 70+ students riding and enjoying nearby trails. 🌄 4) These programs have sparked change in the community. Teachers, coaches, and parents are working with the Board for Commuter traffic to advocate for safer streets for families to bike, roll, and walk to school. 🦺 And now we get to celebrate all of it on May 6th for Bike & Roll to School Day (@walkrolltoschool )! Here’s to the riders, the teachers, the volunteers, and the community that keeps the wheels turning. We are so excited to celebrate! 🚲🫶🥳 #Outride #nationalbikerolltoschoolday

May gives us two powerful reasons to ride: it’s National Bike Month and Mental Health Awareness Month 🚲💚   At Outride, we believe bikes can do more than move our bodies. Movement, connection, and access to cycling can help reduce stress, build confidence, strengthen focus, and support mental well‑being across the lifespan. Cycling is a powerful tool, and it’s one of many ways people care for their mental well‑being, which can look different for everyone.   This carousel captures moments from @seaotterclassic , where we brought our Brain on Bikes booth to life through hands‑on demos and conversations about how riding supports brain health and overall well‑being. 🫶✨   Curious what’s happening in your brain when you ride, and how movement fits into caring for mental health more broadly? 🧠🚲 Comment “BRAINS ON BIKES” to explore the science and try a few simple cognitive challenges, and check out trusted mental health resources to support yourself and others. #Outride #YourBrainOnBikes

This is what it looks like when an entire community builds something for kids. In Payson, it didn’t come from one group. It came from everyone. Industry leaders. Local partners. Schools. Coaches. Volunteers. All showing up to create something bigger than a single program. An ecosystem where kids can ride, learn, grow, and belong. This is how lasting impact happens. Thank you to the partners who believed in this vision and helped bring it to life: TREK SRAM SHIMANO GIANT SPECIALIZED OUTRIDE ARIZONA COMPLETE HEALTH PROJECT BIKE TECH MHA FOUNDATION And the many others who continue to invest in kids and community. #WheelFun #MoreKidsOnBikes #CommunityImpact #PaysonAZ

@seaotterclassic , you were a blast! Each day, we transformed the @iamspecialized demo booth into an Outride Brains on Bikes Pop‑Up Lab - an interactive space where people could SEE and SHARE how biking lights up the brain! From guided @gozwift rides to live EEG demos to creative “design your brain” activities and conversations, riders of all ages got to experience the power of bicycle on mind and mood. 🚲🧠 A few fun highlights: • Nearly 100 brain-boosting kilometers ridden on our Zwift brains on bikes demo ride ⚡️ • Live EEG demos illustrated how the brain lights up during attention tasks 💪🧠 • Bike celebs and athletes, including @mitchropo , @amtetrick , @mattyhunter , @dialedhealth , @elliotjamieson_ , @michaelmeetsworld , @geodesicdome , @chelseasendsit , @jorisryf , @dani.johnson6 , @teddy.hayden , @porshamurdock and Calvin from @parktoolblue joined the fun ⭐️ • @littlebellasmtb stopped in for brain facts and of course… a dance party! 🕺 We loved connecting with partners and so many curious minds. Thanks for making this such a meaningful, fun weekend! 🫶🙌 #Outride #ThisIsYourBrainOnBikes
