πΆ Fabulous Friday Afternoon Entertainment with Lee πΆ
A huge thank you to Lee for such an energetic and uplifting hour filled with classics and favourite tunes! Everyone had a fantastic time singing along, dancing, and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere. ππΊ
Itβs certainly set us up for a positive and happy weekend ahead β and the video says it all! ππ₯
The greenhouse is really coming together at Outram Fields π±
This morning we spent time planning the next stage of planting outside and sowing more seeds for the weeks ahead. We also potted on all the carrots and tomatoes, taking things slowly, mindfully, and with patience throughout the process.
Thereβs something special about these quieter moments in the greenhouse β watching growth happen step by step and giving each plant the care and attention it needs.
Excited to see everything continue to flourish πΏπ π₯
Our Administrator Jane and receptionist Chloe held their Sing & Dance afternoon session today πΆπ
Getting people up moving, singing along or simply tapping to the music is a wonderful way to encourage light exercise, social interaction and all the joy that music brings. It was lovely to see so many smiles, laughter and happy faces throughout the afternoon β€οΈ
πΆ We had the wonderful Dronfield Ukelele Band, from the Dronfield Baptist Church, with us on Friday, performing a selection of well-loved songs for residents to enjoy. It was a lively and uplifting afternoon with lots of singing and tapping along! π΅
Our regular Friday music sessions help build routine and give residents something special to look forward to before the weekend.
A huge thank you to the band for brightening our afternoon! β€οΈ
A group of excited snooker enthusiasts from our home attended the Senior Snooker Championships at the Crucible on Thursday β and what a fantastic experience it was! π±
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed seeing the game live and getting a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the TV production. It was a wonderful day shared together with the Wellbeing & Lifestyle team, Ellen and Daisy, along with volunteer Phoebe.
A big thank you to @ageuksheffield for gifting us the tickets β¨ it really makes a difference.
π¬π§ VE Day Celebrations π¬π§
Today, we came together to celebrate VE Day with a wonderful morning full of remembrance, laughter, and community spirit.
Residents enjoyed watching the VE Day parade video before getting competitive with games of ring toss and balloon tennis β inspired by the fun and simple street party games of the 1940s! ππ―
We then wound down the morning by singing and dancing along to wartime classics including Weβll Meet Again and The White Cliffs of Dover. πΆ
It was a special time to reflect, remember, and honour those who gave so much, while also celebrating the joy of togetherness and creating happy memories with friends.
β¨ Reminiscing about Sheffield β¨
Our residents enjoyed a lovely session with Ellen, looking at photos of Sheffield from 1952β2001 and playing a fun βGuess the Locationβ game. πΈ
There were lots of chats about old shops, family memories, and how much the city has changed over the years. We also watched a documentary, reminiscing about landmarks like the Tinsley Towers, the Cole Brothers store and the Hole in the Road.
A wonderful way to share memories and spark conversation π
Today, Daisy enjoyed some lovely one-to-one time with residents, exploring our garden herbs πΏ
Together, they identified different herbs and created sweet, fragrant herbal bouquets β a calming sensory activity that sparked creativity and conversation.
One-to-one sessions like this help us support each resident individually, creating meaningful and enjoyable moments π
A lovely morning spent baking cookies together πͺ
Everyone got involved while chatting about favourite cakes and sharing memories of making birthday treats for loved ones. It brought back so many special moments and reminded us how food brings people together π
Well done to all β and they tasted just as good as they looked!
