BUNS 4 BANK HOLS 🐣🪨🪺 hot X scones on my @set.social.peckham easter market counter this weekend! golden crusted w a MOIST muffiny interior & featuring the best of winter citrus, these are packed with home-candied pomelo, amalfi lemon zest, and juicy raisins & sultanas soaked in roasty hojicha. complemented by my warm but BRIGHT spice blend (cardamom, nutmeg, coriander, white pepper... etc!) and double-glazed with yuzu syrup 🍋🍊 (VEGAN TOO… DUH) i LOOOOVE hot cross buns they’re my fav british bake so naturally moms scones got a very easter makeover in my dream HXB flavor profile. HAPPY YEAR OF THE HORSE 😸🎠祝大家新年快樂🧧✨馬年大吉! i hope you’re all having a wonderful start to the year❣️ this CNY i added 3 cantonese flavours of flaky (vegan) scones for the OOP menu: 🪿 HOISIN CARAMEL ‘DUCK SAUCE’: the crowd fav reworked! now layered with yellow plum, chili, and ginger jam and 13-spice sugar 🖤 TRIPLE BLACK SESAME: black sesame buckwheat scones with black sugar + black sesame paste & glaze 🧂 NAM YU 5 SPICE: oat flour scones layered with 南乳 (red fermented bean curd), pepper salted black sugar, and a touch of 5 spice. debuting at the @eseacommunitycentre lunar new year market, my hoisin caramel flavour is finally true to its HK roast goose inspiration with my take on 冰梅醬 (sweet plum sauce), and the nam yu scone, inspired by 南乳椒鹽餅乾 (a classic cantonese biscuit) is truly neutral, barely sweet or salty, and is my favorite recipe i’ve ever developed. i’ve been in hong kong seeing my family. our first new year together since i left home 7 years ago. feeling very loved and very inspired. thinking about where OOP is going, and flavors of home to bring back to london! thank you all for coming along on this ride.
