"House For Rural Habits" by Spolia Office breathes new life into a three-story residence in Siero, Asturias. The design functions as a dialogue with the valley, where large, strategic apertures serve as living canvases, capturing the transit of the sun across the apple orchards. Inside, the atmospheric quality is defined by material honesty—think translucent glass-block volumes, sage green cabinetry, and sun-yellow accents that diffuse the fickle Cantabrian light.
Moving from the luminescent upper floors to the telluric basement, the architecture excavates history, exposing rugged northern Spanish masonry and a foundation block that anchors the home to its lineage. This is a space where luxury is found in the ability to slow down, offering a contemplative retreat where the landscape remains the undisputed protagonist.
