On our expeditions, we often ski in a line, but why?
Following the same track saves energy, keeps our team together, and reduces risks in the wilderness.
With heavy pulkas behind us and unpredictable conditions ahead, teamwork becomes part of every stride. The terrain can hide crevasses, the weather can change within minutes, and pulling a pulka requires maintaining a steady and efficient rhythm.

Meet the team @ouslandexplorers
â Ine-Lill burst onto the Polar scene in 2007 with her and Ritaâs extraordinary Mt Vinson / South Pole expedition. Their monster days towards the end were proof of both willpower and unique stamina.
Ine-Lill is her own master, has always gone her own way, and never sought fame! She has meticulously gone through all the grades to become what I would call the complete âoutdoorerâ. She genuinely loves being out there, and we are so happy she came on board!â â @borgeousland

Crossing Svalbard : South to North â 35 days
From the southern tip of Spitsbergen to the north, this expedition was a true success story forged by endurance and teamwork. Day after day, we skied across the most beautiful glaciers of the archipelago, navigated through infinite mountain passes, and faced constantly changing Arctic conditions; from soft sunlight -28 degrees to whiteouts and fog and 0 degrees.
Pulling our pulkas across this vast land, progress wasnât always easy. But slowing down for each other, sharing the load, and keeping spirits high made all the difference. Evenings in the tent, melting snow for water and sharing stories, became just as meaningful as the kilometers behind us.
As we moved north, the landscape kept evolving. Reaching Verlegenhuken felt surreal after weeks of effort.

Itâs been a busy and exciting Arctic season for us at @ouslandexplorers
Over the past weeks weâve been running several polar training trips, where participants get a real taste of expedition life in the north; learning how to travel on skis with pulks, set up camp in winter conditions, and build the skills and confidence needed for polar journeys.
Recently, Ine Lil and @friluftsjenta completed a beautiful ski traverse across Finnmark. Long days on skis across the Arctic plateau, cold nights, and the quiet winter landscape made it a very special journey.
Right now, Gaute and his team are out on a big expedition in Svalbard, crossing the archipelago from east to west. Itâs a challenging route through glaciers and wild Arctic terrain, and weâre excited to follow their progress.
More adventures are just around the corner. Carolineâs team will soon set off for a southânorth traverse of Svalbard, another classic polar journey. And not long after that, a group will head for Newtontoppen, the highest mountain in Svalbard.
Plenty of snow, long ski days, and great people, the Arctic season is definitely in full swing. More updates coming soon from the field!

Exciting news:â¨19â22 March 2026 | Finseâ¨POLAR GLACIER & AVALANCHE COURSE
Learn how to identify avalanche terrain, make informed route decisions, and understand the consequences of entering runout zones even while towing a heavy pulk. You will also train for crevasse incidents, including how to respond quickly and effectively if a team member falls in, pulk and all.
Train for it before you have to rely on it.
We have teamed up with our close friends at @fjellboms to create a top-quality course tailored to teams pulling sleds.
Day 5: Finnmarksvidda crossing /
Today we got up after the coldest night so far and couldnât stand still for a second, but had to move and jump around to keep warm. But in the end, we just managed to stand still enough to capture the whole gang in a group photo.
The trip continued across the plateau. It was completely silent. Not a breath of wind. We think about how lucky we are. Even though it is cold, we escape the wind. And the plateau is absolutely beautiful with frozen trees and snow poles.
