Here’s my full ten minute conversation with @lightscamera.ashton , a seven year old Newark native/resident. Newark has so many kids like Ashton. They’re sharp, curious, honest, full of potential, and deserve to be highlighted and celebrated for simply being their unique and authentic selves. With all the dysfunction in our city and in our schools, they are our bright spots. Our plan is to build a new culture in Newark that puts them at the center of how we design this city.

Moody’s is one of the companies that grades how risky it is to lend money to cities. A lower rating or outlook is basically a warning that financial experts are becoming more concerned about a city’s finances.
This week, Moody’s downgraded Newark’s credit outlook. That happened because of concerns about our city’s financial condition, lack of emergency funds, debt, budgeting pressure, and overall financial management.
What residents should watch for: The city paying more to borrow money, more city debt, higher taxes, and cuts in city services.
Newark, if you see voter intimidation, people interfering with voting, poll workers denying legal voters, malfunctioning voting machines, illegal campaigning inside polling places, coercion, harassment, or discrimination at the polls today, report it immediately.

Newark, this city belongs to all of us, not just a select few. I represent the 95%, and today is our chance to show up so we can begin designing the future we want together.

While live streaming in the West Ward today, a resident told me he’s going to teach himself about the miscellaneous funds Donna Jackson has been exposing.
We are waking our people up.
