meet the 2026-2027 committee!! (part 1) a few words from our new president, secretary and treasurer… Adam: I’m really excited to be serving as President this year. OUPLC is more than just powerlifting, it’s a community, and my aim is to make sure it stays supportive, welcoming, and well-run for everyone, whether you’re new to lifting or have been around for years. The club and the sport have had a huge impact on me: this was my first real experience of being part of a sports club, and I was welcomed with open arms and supported to improve without any sense of judgement. At a time when I was rebuilding a bit of confidence and trying to find my footing again, OUPLC gave me a real sense of place. That’s something I really want to preserve and pass on to others. Feel free to reach out any time, whether you’re thinking of joining or already part of the club. Looking forward to a good year with everyone! Gwen: I’m Gwen, long-term OUPLC committee member and Secretary this year. I’ll be keeping the emails flowing and am always happy to answer all your questions on the club and getting into competing! Sam: As Treasurer, I’m here to make sure the club is stable financially. I also want to make sure that each member feels they’ve got the most out of their subscription. As a committee member I want to represent the club in all its many facets, whether that’s in the gym, in meetings, at comps or at socials.

meet the committee (part 2) and it’s your 2026/27 captains!!! as always, here’s a few words… Samantha: Excited to be women’s captain this year! I’ll be helping to run the squads as well as 2027 varsity which will be held in Oxford (some exciting stuff, still begging the club to let me buy confetti cannons) I’d love to get more women into the sport and hope I can create a supportive and welcoming atmosphere, just as others did for me when I joined :) Gus : I have been into powerlifting for a couple years and I want to inspire more people to get into the sport as the men’s captain, where I’ll be in charge of the Varsity squad of this year. I’ve only been a member at OUPLC for 2 terms since I started at Oxford, and I am grateful to have found such a welcoming community to help me feel at home in a new city (some of the first friends I made in Oxford were the OUPLC members when I came to train in 0th week Michaelmas). Talyn: Super excited to be your novice captain this year! Here to be a friendly face around the gym, if you want to get started with powerlifting, I’m your man! And DO CUPPERS (sign ups coming out soon!) šŸ‹ļøšŸ’œšŸ’Ŗ

FINAL instalment of meet the committee (part 3)🫔 and here’s what they have to say: Madi: hey everyone!! so excited to serve as one of your social secs and social media officer this year. I hope to foster and ensure ouplc stays the amazing, supportive community we all know and love <3 very much planning to showcase that sense of sportsmanship as well as sharing our members’ incredible achievements across our social media too :) Zofia: As co-social sec, it’s my role to plan fun, safe and inclusive socials to bring the ouplc community closer together! Look forward to pub nights, crew dates, good food (get that protein) and many more activities (think punting, climbing, ice-skating, etc!) Rowan: I see my role as vitally important in supporting the inclusive and diverse community of powerlfitiers at OUPLC. Powerlifting has shaped my life and I look foward to helping as many people as possible to access and experience this amazing sport. Please feel free to message me at any time throughout the year, always here to listen to you and any feeback. Kal: As Kit Officer, I’m in charge of making sure we look as fly as possible for comps and training. I’ll be organising termly (discounted!) SBD orders and multiple stash drops. I’ll also be designing custom merch for the club (singlets, deadlift socks, t-shirts), so get in contact if you’ve got any kit ideas to keep us looking fresh šŸ—£ļø Will: My job is to make sure the OUPLC family keeps engaged with the club long after graduating. If you’re alumni and need anything at all, whether that’s a handler for an upcoming comp, get some OUPLC merch, info about club social events or you’re just in need of a pint with an old fellow powerlifter…I’m the point of contact!
