In furtherance of our dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR's directive to strengthen unity within our party ahead of the 2027 elections, I attended the meeting of the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Umuahia today, alongside party executives and critical stakeholders across the state. In my address, I urged all stakeholders to set aside grievances and work together in unity and harmony to ensure victory for our great party and all its candidates in the coming elections. I also used the opportunity to dispel the false narratives and divisive rumours being circulated by mischief makers in an attempt to create disunity among party leaders. As we approach the party primaries, I further rendered elderly advise to the party leaders on the need to adopt transparent and inclusive measures in the conduct of the exercise in order to prevent post-primary crises arising from competing interests. Together, through unity, fairness, and mutual respect, we will continue to strengthen our party for greater success ahead. #OUK

At today’s Senate plenary, I once again carried out my legislative responsibilities by contributing to deliberations on two critical national issues the persistent challenges in our power sector and Nigeria’s foreign policy framework, with special emphasis on the welfare of Nigerians in the diaspora amid rising cases of xenophobic attacks. The occasion was the ministerial screening of Engr. Joseph Tegbe and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, who appeared before the Senate for confirmation as Ministers of the Federal Republic. During the exercise, I engaged both nominees with key questions and observations. For Engr. Tegbe, I highlighted the urgent need to confront Nigeria’s longstanding electricity challenges, particularly across generation, transmission, and distribution. I sought clarity on practical steps to end years of epileptic power supply, stressing the importance of reforms that will remove bottlenecks and improve efficiency within the sector. I also underscored how improved electricity supply would significantly boost economic activities and benefit constituencies like ours. For Ambassador Enikanolaiye, I focused on the state of Nigeria’s foreign missions and the need to strengthen diplomatic capacity. I sought assurance on how he intends to work with the substantive Minister to secure adequate funding for our missions abroad, many of which are struggling with basic operational needs. I also emphasized the urgency of improving support systems for Nigerians in the diaspora, especially those facing challenges in various countries, including our constituents from from Abia North. After receiving their responses, I joined my colleagues in the Senate in confirming both nominees, while wishing them success as they take on their national assignments. #OUK

On the Senate floor today, I joined my colleagues in strongly condemning the unprovoked xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa. During the debate, I backed all resolutions urging swift, coordinated action to stop these incidents and guarantee the safety of Nigerians living abroad. I emphasized the need for deliberate protective measures, especially for Nigerians from the South East, including indigenes of Abia-North who are legitimately engaged in their businesses. Nigeria must remain resolute in defending the dignity, security, and fundamental rights of its citizens, wherever they may be. #OUK

I am pleased to share that four constituents from Abia North are currently in China participating in specialised international training programmes, as part of our sustained commitment to youth empowerment and global capacity development. In the Cyber Security training programme are Iheanyi Ebony Inyamah (Arochukwu LGA) and Okorie Dandy Chukwu (Bende LGA), while Offor Basil Chiadikaobi (Umunneochi LGA) and Igwe Samuel Isaiah (Bende LGA) are participating in the Training Programme on Opening-Up and Economic Cooperation for Belt and Road Countries. These initiatives, facilitated through my office, are part of a broader human capital development agenda that has also seen Abia North students studying Medicine and Surgery in South America and Europe, as well as others pursuing MBA and Ph.D programmes in China, alongside many more in institutions across Nigeria. This continued participation reflects our deliberate investment in equipping our youths with relevant digital, academic, and global skills. I commend these young ambassadors for representing Abia North on the international stage and encourage them to maximise this opportunity for learning, collaboration, and meaningful contribution to our collective development. We will continue to prioritise human capital development, youth empowerment, and global exposure for our people. Keep Hope Alive!

At yesterday’s plenary, I joined my colleagues in taking decisive steps geared towards strengthening national security and advancing Nigeria’s development. I firmly supported the Senate’s directive to the Inspector General of Police to immediately commence a comprehensive investigation into the tragic attacks in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, to ensure that those behind the senseless killing of innocent Nigerians are identified and brought to justice. We also honoured the victims with a minute of silence, while reiterating our collective resolve that impunity must not be tolerated. The Senate further called for a reinforced and sustained security presence in vulnerable communities, including the establishment of a permanent joint operational base, alongside intensified intelligence-driven military operations across the country. In addition, we passed the ₦68.323 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill, a critical fiscal framework designed to address key sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, and the judiciary. As a representative of the people, I remain committed to ensuring that our region is adequately captured in the national budget. I will continue to advocate for impactful projects that complement the efforts of our dear President, particularly in the areas of electricity and road infrastructure. Our people deserve meaningful development, better connectivity, and stable power supply, and I will persist in championing these priorities. We remain focused on delivering policies and projects that improve the lives of our people. #OUK
