Our time in Kyiv a few weeks ago still sits with us—hard to put into words, but impossible to forget. In a world that feels increasingly heavy, the act of gathering around a table, of cooking and sharing food, can feel like a quiet kind of defiance. When
@dilbazi_mirali invited us to join his team
@mirali.restaurant for a few days, we didn’t think twice. What we found was not just a kitchen, but a community—resilient and generous. The hospitality we were shown was profound, offered not just in plates and glasses, but in spirit and presence. It reminded us why we do what we do. Food, at its best, creates a sense of belonging. It connects us, comforts us, and makes room for hope. It allows for generosity - on both sides of the table. Ultimately, it’s what makes us human. It can be a rebellion, a peace treaty or sometimes simply a meal shared. We’re not there yet, but one day, we’ll gather again—this time at Otto. And when we do, it won’t just be about the food. It’ll be about everything that led us back to the table.
