I picture a young Hanhak as a child sitting in front of a monopoly board envisioning his own takeover one day as he slowly collects his houses and hotels- buying up the squares dotting the playing field with nothing less than pure undulating ambition and foresight into his bright #montreal future. All one has to do is look at his present and see how all has unfolded. The much loved collection of MTL favourites:Bar Otto, Otto Yakitori, Pony bbq (just to name a few)- has now a new Montreal opening with Momiji, a new restaurant in the heart of Royalmount.
This stunning Zebulon designed project is the result of a collaboration between Han (Hanhak) Kim, founder of the Otto Group, Vienman-Cao, Choonpyo Chun, and Jinpyo Chun, who also serves as Momiji’s executive chef.
I had the honour of sharing in a most magnificent picnic of flavours and dishes that blend sushi, grill, and bar culture this week and my goodness here is another reason to visit and explore the labyrinth of exemplary restos popping up in the Royalmount complex.
Seeing Han at the helm with such a finger on the pulse of our food loving needs is a gift that keeps giving. I watch him in awe. So many projects on the go, many still to come and always with a smile and immense warmth. A twinkle and sparkle in his eyes, mirroring that kid I imagine watching his Monopoly game board is really all you need to know!!
Now I urge you all to get out there and luxuriate in the free parking and exhale with the ease of zero worry for meters and tickets.
Just escape and enjoy. It’s well worth it - and makes you want to go buy that game and play again with your kids to spark that joy!!!
