one year ago today, my brother otis cogar and i brought our cousin christian napier into game changer wrestling. VNDL48 has been a family born gang since january 1975 and with our family’s blessing, we carried that flag into professional wrestling. our father and christian’s grandmother are siblings. her maiden name was cogar before marriage introduced the napier name into our bloodline. the last names may have shifted over generations but the bond never did. neither did the code. since one year ago today, i’ve had the privilege of traveling the world beside my family because of professional wrestling. sometimes i genuinely sit back and think about how impossible that sounds. kids who came from our side of cleveland and our upbringing somehow ended up all over the world together under the same banner. this was never something manufactured through business relationships or industry politics. this is lineage. we did not create VNDL48 for wrestling. wrestling just became another place our family’s history reached. there is a different kind of gratitude that comes with looking beside you in different states and realizing the people standing there with you are not just your partners in wrestling but your bloodline. we will never take that for granted.
