Apparently I’m no longer the only shoemaker in this household. My wife @huldrasherbs just made these turnshoe slippers! Aren’t they just ridiculously cute? I think I have to commission a pair for myself. These are made using wool uppers, cotton insole and lining, and soft leather outsoles. Perfect spring and autumn house slippers!

Six months of the @stitchdownpatinathunderdome down, almost there! I usually miss the check-in for one of the winter months, when we get semi snowed in or the 4 hour window of daylight a day doesn’t make for good pictures. Barring any major accidents (knock on wood!) it looks like I’ll finish this iteration of the Dome though. These are my Østmo x @ironboots_usa Asbjørnsen last prototype boots in C. F. Stead waxy kudu. Love how the leather has worn in and how the last fits and looks! Kai of Iron Boots is just finishing dialing in some pattern changes for this last, and after that we’ll start doing some gmto drops and ready to wear launches with it. Can’t wait to share it with you all!

Sold! This is pair number 192 and is made using Viking Calf from @gallun_leather . I’m not quite sure what the official color is, but it has a lovely tan whiskey hue. It comes in at around 1,8-2mm./5oz. thickness, which is a fairly heavy weight for calfskin. Yet, it is soft and pliable and should require very little in the way of break-in. The boots are built on the Asbjørnsen last, featuring a @dr_sole_originals 1220 sole and 1230 half heel combo. Structured toe! These are some big honkers at size 46,5, and should fit someone who measures around US12.5D heel to ball on a Brannock device. Send me a message if you want more specific sizing advice. How to purchase: comment on this post saying you want to buy them, and I will compile a list from which I draw a random winner who gets to buy them 24 hours later. Best of luck to all interested parties. The rest of you are welcome to just enjoy the pretty winter wonderland pictures!

Also finished pair number 190 the other day! I made these for someone who had a pair a few years ago but didn’t size quite right back then. These Type I boots are made in Horween Pioneer Hatchgrain in the lovely caramelicious Carrington color. A long time favorite of mine, which I feel pairs very well with my general aesthetic and Scandinavian boot heritage. Built on the Asbjørnsen last with a partially structured toe, @dr_sole_originals 1220 full soles, 1230 half heels and finished off with a natural sole edge.

Sold! Let’s do an old fashioned wheel of fortune for these. I only rarely make boots for sale these days, so I figure everyone should get a fair chance once in a while. This is pair number 191 and is the Type I pattern made on the new Østmo x @ironboots_usa version of my Asbjørnsen last, in size 8D. As opposed to my usual lasts that use EU sizes, this one utilizes IB’s US sizing system, and should fit anyone who wears 8D in other Iron boots or White’s, Nick’s, Viberg etc. For reference, that equates roughly to a Brannock 8.5D heel to ball measurement. The Asbjørnsen last features arch support and a slightly sprung toe. The heel and waist portion is narrower and locks your foot in place, before it opens up in the front for more toe space. I’ve been wearing a pair of prototype boots on this last for this year’s patina thunderdome, and it is super comfy! The boots are made in S. B. Foot Teak Featherstone, which I’ve never worked with before, but really impressed me as I was putting these together. Just a very good staple brown boot leather with tight grain that both has patina potential AND lets you brush out scuffs easily. Contrast tongues in Seidel dark brown oil tan! Lined partially with Swedish Elmo lining in the back half, and blue nubuck leather in the forefoot. Structured toes. Finished on @dr_sole_originals 1220 supergrip soles and 1230 half heels, with natural sole edges. For my new followers, the wheel of fortune method works like this: comment on this post saying you want to buy the boots. In about 24 hours I will compile all the interested parties in a list, from which I will draw a random winner who gets to buy the boots. If you win, receive the boots and they don’t fit, I will help mediate a sale to someone else who was also on the list. Low risk, high reward!

Month 4 of @stitchdownpatinathunderdome in my Østmo x @ironboots_usa Asbjørnsen last prototypes: ✅ These were supple and comfortable right out of the box, and only continue to feel great on foot. Can’t wait to get the pattern quirks worked out so everyone can enjoy what Asbjørnsen has to offer! Also, happy new year! 2025 has been a mixed bag for me personally, including getting scammed out of a substantial amount of money, but also doing an engine swap in my 1995 Toyota Hilux and getting lots of nature and fishing time under my belt. I wish you all a great 2026!

Seasons greetings, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and God Jul! Remember, every time you’re naughty, Krampus-Lars destroys a perfectly good pair of boots.

To my great disappointment, I discovered that the video portion of my latest post cut off way before it was supposed to. So here is the director’s cut, with more hugs!

This post requires a bit of backstory. One of the very first pairs of boots I ever sold was for @tichoblancoshoes back in 2016. It was an early rendition of the type I pattern, in the legendary roughout veg tan moose leather from the Finnish Pelo tannery. Swipe to the last picture to see the original pair. Due to an unfortunate series of events, they were damaged beyond repair at one point. So, for when Ticho came to visit this week, I had secretly remade this truly OG makeup for him, in the very last that is left of that leather in the world. Here they are, pair no. 189! Built on the Asbjørnsen last this time, and finished on Dr. Sole 1220 full soles. I felt a little like Elrond reforging Aragorn’s sworn in LOTR while putting these together, so I have named them: The Shards of Larsil. I expect you’ll see a lot of these on Ticho’s feed in the weeks to come. As always had the best time having Ticho over, even if I came down with a rough cold literally the day he arrived. This man has so much love and so many good stories it’s crazy. 10/10 cold hangout company, can recommend.
