Honoured and excited that 'A Birmingham Symphony' is nominated for Best Documentary at the @midlandsmovies awards! It means so much to be recognised in our home region and we're looking forward to the event next month. As always, couldn't have got there without the wonderful score by my friend @oscarvinter . We're also part of the online selection for Cannes International Film Week at the moment, so please have a watch on Whush!

We’re delighted to announce that the two latest volumes in our P5 photo-poetry pamphlet series are now available in our online shop! Giving Notice by @siddkhajuria is a reluctant love letter to the decisions we make and the often monotonous nature of life. Promise to be Tender by @charliejlfitz & @oscarvinter explores love, care and crip interdependence forged through illness, precarity and devotion. If you’re in London this Saturday, you can hear all three artists perform readings of this new work at @peckham24 . Link in bio to book your free ticket. You can also find us at A Bigger Book Fair all weekend at @peckham24 , where volumes 1 & 2 of P5, Endscape by @f11andrewzawacki and Persona Digitalia by @vikshirls1 , will be available to buy alongside the new releases. P5 is a photography and poetry pamphlet series directed by Photoworks in partnership with @davidisolo , and designed by @_janeandjeremy . The series was created to support artists exploring how text, image and page can come together in meaningful, experimental and unexpected ways.

It was an absolute pleasure to have my film, ‘Dance the Body Electric’ screened at the @barbicancentre (one of my favourite places) as a part of ‘Feeling the Fantasy’ programmed by @emilysmmns x @cripcinemaarchive alongside so many important and vibrant films exploring disability, dance and movement. Also had the pleasure of taking part in a post screening Q&A with the wonderful dancer @jamalsterrett and the dancer and filmmaker Caitlin McMullan, hosted by Emily Simmons. . . . . . . . [Image descriptions] 1. A panel of four people sits with mics on a stage in front of a cinema screen. White captions are seen on the screen 2.Oscar and Emily stand together in front of an orange wall which says “cinema 3” 3.Poster for ‘Feeling the Fantasy’ of a dancer upside down on the concrete floor. They have a prosthetic leg. Text reads: ‘9 short films celebrating disability, dance and movement.’ 4.A hazy purple and pink figure is on a cinema screen 5.Oscar sits and smiles wearing sunglasses and a green hat. The Barbican is behind him. 6.Oscar and Charlie stand together in front of an orange wall which says “cinema 3” 7.Oscar takes a mirror selfie and holds Stanley, a chihuahua in a black dog bag. 8.A camera on a tripod in a bathroom and a light box. Oscar is reflected in the window and flashes a peace sign. Panel photo by @rikkyonefeli 📸

Oscar Vinter (@oscarvinter ) is an artist, composer, and audio-visual researcher who works across film, music, photography, and writing. We talk about practice-based research—using the medium to explore the medium itself rather than relying on theory alone. We discuss Oscar's multidisciplinary approach and touch on neurodivergence, exploring how repetition, sensation, and embodiment shape his creative output. And lastly, how to maintain fun and spontaneity in art-making long term—through collaboration, experimentation, and staying authentic.

In the lead up to our artist talk and film screening: Crip Love, Care and collaboration - happening online tomorrow at 6pm GMT with @restingupcollective_ & @ortgallery Oscar and I are publishing a substack that explore some of the themes and films we will show at the event. The first substack is an essay Oscar wrote to accompany his film - COL5A1/FBN2, made as part of his PhD research. "Dealing with personal histories, the film is performative, unfolding through three “chapters” comprised of scripted elements, interview sequences and ‘synthetic’ memoire involontaires. Interweaving personal and familial histories, memories, trauma; the film explores the attempts to “tell” multiple stories simultaneously." - Oscar Vinter Link to the substack in @charliejlfitz bio
