Rodaje inolvidable con @mattgould22@robinsmithtv@richardszkiler en Domuyo, la montaña más alta de la Patagonia, filmando a una adorable familia de patos de los torrentes, que vive en aguas termales que brotan de las laderas del volcán, casi como si fueran jacuzzis naturales... aunque con la fuerza salvaje de los rápidos de montaña.
Gracias a la actividad volcánica —fumarolas, géiseres y manantiales— el agua se mantiene caliente todo el año (hasta 50ºC), permitiendo que estos patos críen incluso en invierno.
Una tierra de fuego y hielo que nunca olvidaré. 🔥❄️

Filming the Marbled Four-Eyed Frog in the Andes was one of the wildest shoots I’ve directed. This little amphibian can freeze solid every night and thaw out each morning—surviving the brutal cold of the Andes. But filming it? That was a whole different challenge… 🐸❄️
We captured this moment for #theamericas a series produced by the @bbc for @nbc , which takes viewers on a journey through the incredible wildlife and landscapes of the Americas. After 10 days of acclimatisation, we had to climb to + 5,200m where oxygen concentration is reduced 1/2 with 50+ Peli cases and bags, carried by 20 donkeys and horses. Once we reached camp, we set up a macro studio in freezing conditions, hoping to find a frog the size of a fingernail under rocks. After days of trial and error, including a broken generator and bleeding fingers from the cold, we finally captured something incredible—the frog coming back to life for the first time ever on film. 🎥✨

Me reí de los surfistas al ver una formación de pelicanos en Tortugero, Costa Rica, surfeando las olas con una elegancia inimitable. Estos pájaros de peso pesado aprovechan las diferencias de presión de aire creadas por las olas para planear sin apenas gastar energía. Luego cuando la ola rompe, buscan la siguiente. En la naturaleza, la ley del mínimo esfuerzo es simple, pero eficaz.
