We were honored to be the chosen printmakers and merchants of the official 50th Annual Medieval Fair T-Shirts this year! It was a harrowing battle but we held down the fort and spread the shirts throughout the land. ABOUT ODDITIES PRINTS:
Oddities Prints began as a poster-printing duo of Jordan Carr & Danni Parelman around 2009. At that time, we were running DIY show spaces in the then derelict downtown KC. We were booking bands from all over the world and of course, making screen printed posters for a lot of those shows! In 2015, Jordan formally founded Oddities Prints as a for-hire business while Danni had begun her career as a tattoo artist.
Jordan and Danni had fixed up an abandoned building, installed our print shop, our home, studio space and another rentable space... generally a weird little compound in midtown KC. We hosted basement shows up until covid, moving printing presses out of the way every time a show came through.
Over the past 11 years, the shop has gotten busier and busier. We have a very symbiotic relationship between for-hire print services and alternative-artist editions. We are able to sustain our livelihoods through for-hire services. This also refines our skillset to the point where I feel like our shop can beautifully print anything and everything! As such, we jump at the chance to create new special editions, applying our commercial skillsets to the world of art-printmaking and vice versa.
Oddities Prints lives in the grey area between a fine-art editioning studio, and a commercial print shop. One side compliments the other!
STATEMENT:
Our role is to connect the artist-world with the commercial print world. We work this both ways, applying fine-art techniques to the world of commercial printing, and applying commercial techniques and processes to the world of art-editioning. We specialize in both silkscreen & risograph printmaking techniques, pushing both mediums to the extremes... refining those extremes... then hunting down the next extreme on the next horizon. We are constantly repeating this cycle, using it to trojan-horse more beauty and art into the world
