And the first woman to ever complete Norman’s 13.
Late in the evening on September 9th, @osamber completed her trek of Norman’s 13, the route that connects all of the California Sierra 14ers. In her FKT report, Olivia said:
“This route has been a multi year vision for me; something I’ve studied, dreamed about, and slowly prepared for over time. It’s a line that captures everything I love about the Sierra: JMT miles, endless talus, knife edge ridges, and exposed granite summit blocks. But more than that, it was about immersing myself in terrain that I deeply connect with. This wasn’t about chasing a time, it was about opening myself to the full experience of the range.”
✨Surgery Update✨ It is finally behind me! The skilled hands of my medical team were able to remove all of the stage 4 endometriosis and other growths while keeping most of my organs intact. Unfortunately, they did confirm adenomyosis as well - adeno is something our medical world has yet to find a management protocol for. I am awaiting the biopsy results for some of the weirder growths, but my doctors are optimistic and I am staying positive.
All of this really puts into perspective what so many women have to deal with. It’s beyond time our medical system recognizes our pain as a real problem.
While it’s going to be a journey of patience to figure out how to manage the disease and get back to high level training, especially as my abdomen heals, I’m ready to take it one day at a time. Recovery is a path paved with small steps, and I’m sooo ready to (slowly) take them. Here’s to healing and the small victories ahead!! Your messages and positive vibes mean a lot. Also, my doctors made me gauze hearts! 🥹🫶

Transgrancanaria Marathon 2026 & a moment for the bubble pony 💁♀️
I came back to this little island hoping to run a little farther and a little faster this year. The 28 mile course has -8,000ft of descending… downhill running has been a big challenge for me the past few years (a healthy pelvis is important for that 🙂↕️) so it felt pretty special to even line up for a race like this.
I finished wishing there were 20 more uphill miles (lol) and reflected on the last time I had a real start to an actual race season… since 2022… So I guess while I didn’t “win” (I was top 5!!) I truly felt like I won in all of the other ways. Here’s to more start lines in 2026! 😎

knowing the history (namely chouinard’s well documented attempt in 1963 that influenced modern ice tool design) gave me so much inspiration that it helped fuel the absolute slog to get there and back especially given the dire snack situation… to top it off we found an og bugaboo chouinard piton (pic 5) so cool!!

2025. i am so grateful for a healthy body and brain that allowed me to move with joy again. my life changed dramatically this year and included a move to a place that fills my soul. in many ways and especially after living in a city for nearly a decade (whoa) it has felt something like a homecoming to my small town roots! except maybe trade the endless treescape of the northwoods where i grew up with expansive views of scraggly peaks instead... you could say that part is very different…
while i love testing myself in new ways and working towards new goals, here is to finding more stability and balance among the adventures 2026 will certainly bring. thank you to all the friends and community who showed up and helped me get through this incredibly difficult yet deeply grounding year. they do say it takes a village and this year i really learned to appreciate what that means!! 🤍🏔️🙂↕️🙏
