We’re stoked to continue Orphic Radio at @der.hintergarten alongside the @radio.hinter team. For the first showcasing at Hinter we’ve invited artist and organizer @edwards________ as host. All mixes will be uploaded to our Youtube. Sound by:
@sofiamaria_s@raulfournier@mxv.jpeg b2b @edwards________@bobsemp b2b @luar.techno Nick Edwards shares some thoughts behind his invites: “Sofia Maria:
She is a good friend of mine, and I really love her house/dub sound. It’s very smooth and well-balanced, with a great curation of tracks. Raul Fournier:
I’ve known Raul for a while, and he has already played at De Reünie and where I found about his sound. He’s creating a signature fresh sound within the wide techno spectrum. MXV:
Max is a well-known figure in the Amsterdam nightlife scene as a graphic designer, photographer, and a very good DJ and a friend. We align perfectly in our selection of tracks, which is why I invited him to do a b2b set with me:) Bob Semp & LUAR:
I’ve been listening to their productions since they first started, and this is exactly the sound that keeps me moving on the dance floor. Recently, they’ve also started DJing, and I’m excited to give them the opportunity to showcase their selection of tracks to the outside world.” Cheers,

With the next Orphic showcase we will be introducing two new facets of our locals-curated radio concept. All upcoming mixes will now be uploaded to our Youtube, where we will also feature our new interview series. Prior showcases from this year will be uploaded in retrospect and there will be more info about the interview in a separate post. We are really happy to have @karinasndr for next week’s radio at @mooiejongens.xx Here’s who she invited and what she had to say about the curation. Sound by @coacernese @bestehira @manpursedj @philip_atan “I had the honor of curating a lineup for the Orphic community, and I invited some of my dear friends and colleagues — each of whom bring a deep passion for music to the table. Their unique styles and commitment to sound align perfectly with the values of Orphic, especially since the themes are an opening set, two out-of-comfort sets and one closing one. I am very proud of this one, and can’t wait to share more on the 24.10!” Cheers, Team Orphic | Karina Schneider | Mooie Jongens

For our second Orphic Radio, we invited @____juliamaria____ to curate our next week’s takeover of @maxi.radio . Thank you for hosting us, Maxi Radio! Sound by @elisa_batti_ @_liane____ @serti_fd @vinzsosabangbang The sets will be livestreamed, we will share the link for this prior to going live. Mixes are later posted online, in case you miss the stream. Julia shares a few thoughts on the upcoming show. “It’s an honor to be entrusted by Orphic as the host for their second radio take over. With this stream, I aimed to create a musical journey by inviting artists whose sounds align with Orphic’s style and complement each other on the same lineup. Our goal is for each artist to challenge themselves within their assigned slot, bringing something unique and create an engaging and dynamic listening experience. I think that these four artists align with this vision, so I’m very excited to have them on board.” Cheers, Team Orphic | Julia Maria | Maxi Radio

For this radio show, we re-used our previous concept where we invite someone from our community to program the show with us. We guide them through the process while giving space for artistic freedom and experimentation. It’s a chance for people from our community to showcase what they would find fitting with Orphic in mind and to connect on a deeper level with us as an organisation while working together on this show. This first show, at @radioradio.fm , is programmed by someone from our team: @remytonisson This is what he had to say about it: “As my first solo initiative within Orphic, I wanted to create another outlet to promote our locals. A radio show with RadioRadio had been on my mind for a long time and for our first Orphic radio I’m happy to invite artists who are paving the way for our scene in their own original ways.” Embrace the unexpected and listen to: @jsprv35 @dominika.artdictive @spikey.lee

🎧 @officialbgwg “Our inspiration for this set is: life, art, the outdoors, and 100% the rich history of techno and electronic music as a whole serve as amazing sources of creativity. Growing up in the Caribbean and the Middle East, music has always been an important part of our identity as well as a passion of ours - we couldn't survive without it! In this, we are now establishing our own trajectory and, in a sense, defining our voice. We hope that our music reflects our love and passion for music. We want our listeners to feel liberated and to let everything else fade away, to be in the moment and feel our vibe through our sound. This set was inspired by the concepts of living in the moment and losing yourself in sound. We love to create moments and experiment in our sets, injecting unexpected sounds and textures, resulting in an energetic flow of sounds. When we play in front of a crowd, it's all about having fun, exchanging energy and leaving the world behind to make incredible memories together, so we hope this mix gives you a taste of what that feels like. We could describe this set with three words: groovy, fast, and fierce. This set was recorded in our studio but we always give our all just as if it was recorded live during a gig. It’s all about having fun! Orphic is all about community, good music, freedom, thinking outside the box… These are all things we enjoy too and we can’t wait for you to experience it all in this exclusive set x”

🎧 @ronl.embdmnt "I have been feeling a strong connection with electronic music since 2015 and in the summer of 2019, Orphic gave me the opportunity to have my first gig ever at their 2nd edition. I felt the urge to give back to the community by making people happy and dancing ever since. At the 5th Orphic edition in the beginning of 2020, I showed my true and evolved self during my first peak time set. I will forever be grateful to Orphic for these special moments. Currently I enjoy hypnotic and driving techno. I really like the dynamics that I can create with this to push the listeners beyond their boundaries. I want to convey a feeling of being able to let go and the will to participate in a collective dance. My inspirations for this set were Polegroup label by Oscar Mulero and Modularz label by Developer. Polegroup hits the more dark and heavy side of hypnotic techno and Modularz pushes a more driving sound. These sounds can be experienced during my set and I would therefore describe it as powerful and mesmerizing. I like challenging my listeners and myself and I believe this combination in my set does exactly that. Staying true to this sound and therefore to myself makes this set a special fit for Orphic!"

🎧 @sophie.bruin “From early on, I have been a creative kid. I grew up with parents who raved through the nineties, telling me stories about parties underneath bridges. I always imagined what those parties would be like, and I wished to experience them someday. We played techno and house music at home, and I was impressed by the force it had. I was just a little girl, but this music made me feel so powerful, and it still does. At the age of 16, I started playing with a little DJ set my dad once bought, and I have never stopped playing since. Music became a way of expressing myself, and it felt special to share those feelings without talking. I was intrigued by the scene as well, because it was a place of extremes. Extreme hard music, and people could completely let go of themselves, which felt beautiful and scary at the same time. This beauty and fear occur in real life as well, and became one of the things I wanted to represent through music. I am trying to do this by playing melancholic melodies driven by groovy and dark baselines, and often I add some raw experimental elements to shake everything up that you thought would stay the same. Orphic gave me the chance to create a podcast for you and supports artists to be themselves, which I really appreciate. This set got some lighter and hypnotic elements. If you are curious what I’m trying to tell you about, in this podcast for Orphic, please listen and find out.” *Artwork from now on is from @macaroniels *

🎧 @isajtd “Music has always played an important role in my life. As I was young I started playing the piano. I was inspired by my mother, who did so as well. Whole my life I have been traveling through different genres in music and I’ve always been eager to explore new sounds and forms of expression. As I got into techno music, I experienced something new and special. Not only in the music itself, but also in the scene around it. The unity and freedom that I experienced really took my interest and I haven?t lost it since. This is also how I feel connected to Orphic. The community of Orphic and the way they offer upcoming talents a way to develop themselves, are really something special. As I started producing and mixing techno a few years ago, I soon started to see that my interest went mostly to old school, or more old school inspired, techno. I found that the groove, percussion and rawness of old school music somehow really touched me. Also I’m a big fan of loopy techno because in my opinion a good loop is all you need to dance in a club. This is also what I want to convey to my listeners and what I’ve incorporated in the set I recorded for Orphic. A continuous groove that grabs you, makes you swing and doesn’t let you go.  The set I recorded for Orphic Breaks Ground is an uptempo set in which I have combined old gems with some unreleased work. Artists to refer to as inspiration are Monolink, Danilo Vigorito and Gaetano Parisio to name a few. “

🎧 @territoria_ignota “Four years ago, before Orphic became Orphic, parties and sharing mutual friends introduced us to each other. Initially, we became friends as we shared the same passion for techno music. Which later on also resulted in consulting each other for advice on how to profile as an artist/organization, providing feedback for our common growth and progress, and sharing experiences. We both witnessed the inception of our careers and supported each other along the way. Last year, somewhere in October during a DJ night get-together, we became aware the last time I contributed for Orphic was the closing set in 2019 and I had not yet done a podcast. My podcast is dedicated to “an innovation to the unknown’. Many may know me and my style and that I always aim to the elements hiding in the unknown. Hence the connection to my artist name and how I translate this into my music, for the listener to be able to experience this in-depth. This time I worked on a super high-paced set, where I challenge you to let it wash over you, like a wave. To lead you to unknown places, maybe even imaginary, where you might be unable to understand any rising emotions. Let it be and it will broaden your perspective on music and the experience.” Check out his Bandcamp for his music:
