ISDA extends its heartfelt congratulations to our Vice President, John Viola, and his parents, Vincent and Teresa, on winning this year’s Kentucky Derby. The Viola family’s horse, “Golden Tempo,” a 23-to-1 long shot, stunned the racing world by winning the Derby with a last-to-first finish. This victory, coupled with the family’s two recent Stanley Cup Finals championships with the Florida Panthers, cements their place among America’s most successful forces in sports. From deep mines to factory floors to towering skyscrapers, there you’d find Italians building better lives for their families. Happy International Workers’ Day! (Pictured here: The installation in 1932 of Cleveland, Ohio’s 40-foot “Guardians of Traffic” statues, carved in large part by early Italian immigrants. Stanley Tucci, who happens to be Emily Blunt’s brother-in-law, helped the actress with her Italian during the filming of The Devil Wears Prada 2, which stretched across Milan, Lake Como and New York City. Tucci, who has been married to Felicity Blunt since 2012, was glad to offer a bit of on-set tutelage.

A story worth celebrating: “Uncle Joe” Falce turns 99. A lifelong ISDA member, WWII veteran and son of early Italian immigrants, Joe represents a generation that built, served and gave back. Join us in celebrating this proud native of Pittsburgh’s bygone Hays neighborhood. 🇮🇹🇺🇸

Put It Back: The statue’s removal was unlawful and pushed through without proper authority, due process or required historic protections, the federal lawsuit argues. Read the full story here (or see link in IG bio): https://bit.ly/4sWJfHf
