Kinder Cafe happened this week. Kindergarteners developed a menu, cooked all the food, transformed their deck into a restaurant, and then waited on the first graders, many of whom ran the Kinder cafe last year. Project-based learning incorporating planning, language arts, math, creativity, art, executive functioning skills and so much more, not to mention fun!
The Orchard School Spring Fundraiser is this Saturday, May 2 at Temple Beth El in Aptos. We rely on community support to supplement our tuition fees and keep our school running.
If you want to support our school, please come to this event! At the very least like and share this post to your friends and family who would want to spend Saturday night at a fun event. We will have music, food, games and a silent auction featuring local businesses.

Orchard School needs your help! Our special school is having our yearly spring fundraiser on May 2 at Temple Beth El in Aptos. It includes casino games and a silent auction and also some yummy food and drink.
This is our main fundraiser of the year and is so important for us to be able to continue the student focused education we know benefits our students and our community.

Orchard School is a place where the outdoors are prioritized. We believe kids learn from play and connection with nature, and even our circus class goes outside regularly!
Our campus is a beautiful 14 acre sanctuary for kids to explore and test their own limits. In an age of indoors and screen time, our students have plenty of physical activity and outside time.
We encourage kids to experiment and test their limits, both physically and academically.
This prepares them for the world, as being comfortable being uncomfortable is the path to success in any activity or field.

One of the most obvious ways to see how Orchard is different than other schools is to come to our science and invention fair!
This year we had a volcano, two solar ovens, a brand new invention to avoid shark attacks, and several types of new pet treats!
We also saw someone who experimented making different types of paper out of recycled goods as well as a sad science experiment about what happens to plants when you speak to them in a mean way.
The science and invention fair is a perfect example of how we encourage our students to be creative and think outside the box.
