Hello Friends
Today, June 21, would have been Joy Cochran’s 59th Birthday.
It’s a fitting day to announce that the Board of Directors and the Membership of the Jamaica Plain Footlight Club have, by a unanimous vote, decided to “officially name the art gallery space in the Parker Room inside Eliot Hall, The Joy Cochran Gallery at Eliot Hall.”
This honors Joy’s instrumental and over 20-year commitment to the gallery space in the Parker Room, where people gather and have enjoyed viewing art for over 2 decades.
Joy created a space for artists and the community to gather and enjoy viewing art. Not just on Open Studios weekend, but during the Footlight’s multiple show season. We are planning an official event around September 20 or 21, 2024. This is the weekend BEFORE the 31st annual Jamaica Plain Open Studios, which is Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29, 2024.
We will keep you posted here and other spaces, so stay tuned.

I’m reposting this photo I took when I was covering the RNC in 2016. What I doesn’t say is that it is up to you to NOT renew. To all those “independents” who said “how bad could he be....”, now you know. To all those that said “It’s all an act.” , no it’s not. To all those that said “ once he gets in the Party will control him...” or he’ll be different.” NO, they can’t and NO, he’s not. Next election, stop being a TRUMP CHUMP.
Yesterday I noticed the Pussy Willow outside my office window was beginning to blossom. It reminded me that things change and right now we are in the season of renewing and growth. We don’t know what will become of this structure, but one way or another, it is going to be renewed. By the way, go out and take a walk, it will clear your head. #rebirth #renew #spring #newengland #hope #perspective #signs #nature #boston
