xerxes is now with kuya sammy 🫐🌈 i’m typing this as i wait for the aquamation service to pick her up. it’s so heartbreaking that we lost her just a day after she officially turned two months. to come home with her in a cardboard box. the decline was so sudden. i picked her up to do my round of good morning kisses and noticed she was limp and cold. she usually hated being picked up and would start wiggling out, but this time she didn’t. we tried to stabilize her and took her to the vet right away. for a moment she showed a tiny bit of improvement, but they could never get her warm enough. the vet said it was something with her lungs. one moment it could be pneumonia, the next maybe fcv. they tried to test further, but she had already collapsed. i don’t have the heart to include pictures of her in confinement here. i just want to share my favorite little moments with her. please send love and tell your pets who have passed the rainbow bridge to welcome her when she arrives. please keep her warm for us 🧡

hi i’m xanadu! nice to meet you 🖤 the one with the black nose is xerxes, and the one with a hint of orange is xena. we were found outside the old orangecat house when we were just a few hours old, now we’re two months! we’ve got silly crooked tails and we love our big brothers and sisters so much. we can’t wait to meet everyone here! 🐾

why are cas and dean shaped so weird

dorcas update: 10 days in and he’s already looking so much better! his sniffles are starting to clear up, his coat is improving, and he’s starting to gain weight 🥹 he’s already been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated against rabies, had his spot tick & flea treatment, and we’ve updated his deworming. all there’s left is his 4-in-1 vaccine, and we’ll start looking for his pinaka-forever home! so excited! if you’d like to support dorcas’s recovery, please consider donating to our dorcas foster fund 💌 every bit of love and support makes a difference. we appreciate you!

the vet lady said dorcas was a very good boy! we took him to the vet yesterday and had a buncha tests taken. a lil overkill? maybe, but he lived with over 15 other unvaccinated cats for over a year and didn’t see much of a vet the whole time (i don’t think many of the cats did) we had to know what we were dealing with :( thankfully, everything came back negative except for fhv, and earmites. — fcov — fpv — fcv — giardia — our bank accounts? all clear! 🥲 he’s also wounded, his fur is matted and thinning, and he’s underweight (at 3kg) this is gonna be tough, but knowing dorcas, he’ll pull through and i can’t wait to see him heal. stay tuned for updates! 🧡

hi sammy, it’s been a year. we found you and dean in a tied-up zesto apple box in our apartment dumpster around january last year. from the start, it was clear—you were a bonded pair. you loved each other fiercely, always side by side, always looking out for each other. dean was your protector. he’d stand between you and anything that seemed like a threat, but he was also your no.1 bully (with love, of course). you two couldn’t sleep apart. even if you dozed off in different corners of the room, one of you would always wake up and waddle sleepily to the other. you were our little escape artist—no playpen could hold you. if we put you in our cat condo, you’d bap the glass until we let you out. and dean? he just followed your lead, always your shadow. we never meant to keep you both, but we took one look at each other and knew—this was it. our first foster fail. “well, we’re fucked.” when you got sick, we still let dean sleep next to you, supervised. we wanted you to have each other for as long as possible. then one night, you had a seizure you never woke up from. nothing prepares you for the quiet that comes after. coming home to the emptiness they leave behind. making arrangements you never wanted to make. letting go of all the dreams you had for them. losing you changed everything. it made us realize that if we couldn’t save you, maybe we could save others—kittens like you, the ones who need the most help. sammy, this is all for you. the orange cat house is all for you. we like to think that every kitten who finds their way to us has a little bit of you guiding them here, telling them “this is my home, you’ll be safe here” we love you, our little blueberry boy. wherever you are, i hope you’re safe, warm, and surrounded by love—just like you should have been here. take care of kamie, lilith, and luka over there for us, okay?
