From our CEO, Mark Nevin, on what happens next.
Thank you to all members who participated in the Strategic Future vote and helped shape this important decision for our profession.
With strong support across all five divisions, members have voted to unify our six entities into one national organisation. This is a historic moment for optometry in Australia and marks the beginning of the next chapter for our profession: one organisation, one national voice, one member-focused structure, and a stronger platform for the future of optometry.
As we move into implementation, the services members value, including premium professional indemnity insurance, CPD, advocacy, professional support, conferences and networking, will continue uninterrupted. Members will also soon have the opportunity to nominate, vote and help shape the leadership of the new organisation.
This has always been a member-led process, and member voices will continue to guide what comes next.
Visit the Strategic Future Hub to learn more and stay involved (link in bio).
Kareena and Zac came to Optometry Clinical Conference 2025 as new grads, and it showed how much they got out of it. They loved the guest speakers, hearing where optometry is heading, the hands-on foreign body session, and meeting other optometrists who get it.
When asked to describe being a new grad in a word or two, they said: "Overwhelming. Emotional."
New grads, can anyone else relate? OCC is your chance to network, swap stories, and learn from others who've been there.
