The past few weeks have been nothing short of life changing!!
As I have been preparing for my dissertation defense and graduation, I was also blessed with an amazing opportunity to get free LASIK through a community partnership with @myhaam and @sharpevision_modernlasik !
This was not something that I could have foreseen (🥁), and I cannot express how appreciative I am of these two wonderful organizations. As someone who has worn glasses since the 5th grade, I never imaged being able to wake up and go about my day with 20/20 vision. I literally cried the first time I got to birdwatch from my balcony.
This procedure is already making such a huge difference in my work on stage, my hobbies (I can stargaze so much easier now!), and in all the small parts of my daily life! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve already had to awkwardly scratch my nose after trying to push up my non-existent glasses! 😂
Also, I want to give a big shoutout to @sid_becktold who helped take care of me after my surgery appointment! A few days of discomfort was definitely worth the decades of good vision ahead of me!!! ❤️

Happy to say that after a year of consideration, I finally decided to donate my hair!! 4 1/2 years of growth, and I’m really happy that it will have the opportunity to go on to a second life with someone!
Funny thing is that I had to mail it back to Florida, so it is the only (dead) part of me that will be staying in that state! 😂

Happy to be spending this weekend representing First United Methodist Church of Gainesville at the Florida State Handbell Festival!
Handbells are an instrument that bring people together across generations, and I am glad to have been introduced to them during my time in high school. These festivals are an important time for the community to come together, learn from each other, and make music that impacts them long after they leave.

I’ve been learning a lot about myself lately by engaging with other artists and their mediums.
This photoshoot was done at 4am in the streets of Austin by a friend that I made in the hostel, Spencer. Learning about his art and the way that he sees the world was really impactful, and I couldn’t be happier to have accepted this spur-of-the-moment opportunity!
