In celebration of the 2026 Brain Awareness Week the SfN Sun City Chapter and Operation Outbreak are hosting a neuroscience-themed escape room on April 7th, 2026. 🧠 Spaces are limited so hurry to book your slot using the link in our bio!

Escape Room Backstory:
In 1994, the Sun City Institute of Neurological Sciences was studying prion proteins as concern over mad cow disease grew. Researchers focused on how misfolded proteins spread in the brain and disrupt normal brain functions, but a containment failure during a late-stage experiment triggered a lockdown.
Within a day, exposed scientists developed worsening neurological symptoms, including slowed reactions, emotional instability, and declining coordination. As their condition progressed, primitive and aggressive behaviors emerged, and they were restrained while being observed without proper ethical oversight. A power failure soon disabled monitoring systems and sealed the facility, cutting off communication with senior staff.
You awaken inside the locked building with no memory of how you arrived, though it seems like you are one of the exposed scientists and that someone inside the facility may have contributed to the breach. To prevent progression to the final stage of illness, you must search the researchers’ notes for clues and identify a possible cure.
The building remains in lockdown.
The outbreak protocol is active.

We wanted to pay homage to our roots and bring the authentic terror and tragedy of this folktale to life in a way that only people from the Borderland could understand. Thank you, El Paso, for trusting us with this story. Thank you for the sold-out nights, the screams, and for allowing us to bring a piece of our culture into the escape room world.

8 years. Wow. It’s wild to think it’s been that long since my sister and I took a leap and opened this little escape room. I still remember being so nervous, just hoping people would show up and like it.
We never in a million years dreamed it would grow to this, welcoming over 150,000 customers. We just wanted to build something cool for our city.

We recently took the whole Operation Outbreak team to Meow Wolf in Santa Fe for a little team outing and to get some new inspiration as we begin to build some new experiences! Finished the day off by playing some incredible escape rooms over at @nmescaperoom in Albuquerque!
OUR NEWEST ADVENTURE WILL BE HERE SOON! But that means after 6 years "Last Breath" will be going away at the end of August.
