What happens to a baby born choking to death and totally deaf in one ear?
A miracle allows her to grow up to become an opera singer!
In celebration of my birthday tomorrow, let me say THANK YOU to God for blessing me with this life and a life of singing and music!
To God be the Glory!! And all praises to my late parents and the to the Ancestors!
I want to encourage everyone to go and see the King Tut exhibit at SUNOMA(Southern University of New Orleans Museum of Art). It is incredible!!! First time and Exhibit like this is at an HBCU!
Delos partners with Opera Lafayette (@operalafayette ) and OperaCréole (@operacreole ) to present the world premiere recording of the earliest complete opera by a Black American: Edmond Dédé’s ‘Morgiane, ou, Le sultan d'Ispahan’. Recorded live in February 2025, more than a century after its completion, this sweeping four-act epic set in Arabia and Persia features a cast of international soloists, OperaCréole’s chorus, and the Opera Lafayette Orchestra performing on instruments of Dédé’s time.
Dédé’s Morgiane is finally being heard, thanks to the tireless work of Givonna Joseph, founder of OperaCréole, conductor Patrick Dupre Quigley (@patrickduprequigley ), and many others. This Delos recording is not a revival – it is a revelation.
Pre-order the album (out January 30th) and listen to the first single at the link in our bio ↖
