Friday, May 15 OSS is hosting Cyparissus (ME) for their album release, Tombeaux Infinis (Dragon's Eye Recordings) TOMBEAUX INFINIS is the final chapter of a trilogy that began with 2023's TO THE MOON AND BACK and continued through 2024's TWO SHAKES OF A LAMB's Tail. Each album has held identity as its central concern while approaching it from a different angle. TO THE MOON looked backward—how does one's past inform who they are, and can that person ever be an unbiased observer of that process? TWO SHAKES looked inward at the immediate—how does one experience themselves today, and how much of what shapes a person is truly voluntary? TOMBEAUX INFINIS completes the arc by looking outward, toward the gaze of others. Local support by Ron Harrity and Slow Hymn Video Projections by Ryan Marshall

Saturday, December 6, Open Systems enthusiastically welcomes the singular Tom Borax for a multichannel audio and visual experience. Tom Borax (@nasal_plosion ), aka “Tom Boram” is a musician and multi-media artist from Baltimore USA. He has played in electronic noise duos Leprechaun Catering and Snacks and has improvised with musicians around the world for 30 years. He is a founder of the international High Zero Festival of Experimental Music. Utilizing a self-built analog synthesizer, Borax employs a performance technique that is more physical and "virtuosic" than what is usually associated with live electronics. His improvised performances are at turns cartoon-like and frantic, yet surreal and meditative. Each performance is like the recounting of a strange story – tales told in a stream of sounds evoking cars, disasters, frogs, owls, pigs, broken phones, broken radios, lungs, stomachs, the ocean, the kitchen, and the rocket launches. Local support by Christy Armstrong (@the.sluagh ) ambient, dissonant songwriting with hand modified instruments Seda/Kanevsky (@beesrhymesandlife @opensystemsstudios ) a duo of processed harmonium and electronics 47 Portland st doors 7/music 8 10-20 pwyc
