Founders hear “pitch” and immediately think they need the perfect deck, the perfect story, or the perfect answer for every question.
This session is about understanding what actually matters when it comes to pitching.
At Startup Weekend, experts will share perspectives from both sides of the table on what makes someone investable: how to communicate your vision, show traction, and tell a compelling story about your product.

You’ll leave Startup Weekend with more than just a pitch deck. We’re excited to announce the prize package for our winning startup team! ⚡

One of the best things about Startup Weekend? Learning directly from people who’ve actually built and scaled companies.
Our first panel brings together GTM experts for a conversation about what happens after the idea stage: finding traction, understanding your audience, positioning your product, and getting it in front of the right people.
The conversation will be practical, honest, and grounded in real startup experience, with plenty of space to ask questions and learn from people who’ve done it before.

We’ve got plans for you on May 27th!
We’re kicking things off at the Techstars Omaha Founder Catalyst Showcase, then heading straight to Dinner Club.
Come see what this cohort has been building, then keep the night going over a great meal with good people, and end the night with an afterparty (TBD on the secret location).
Come for one or stay for both. Hope to see you there! Link in bio to RSVP.
Startup Weekend needs more than just founders. We need designers, tinkerers, marketers, and genuinely curious people!

“This is a very navigable community that's open to answering those questions.”
That line from Paul Smith, our Board Chair and Founder, stuck with us at the Gr8er Plains Summit last week.
It perfectly reflects what we’re seeing across the ecosystem and striving to build at Open Range: a community that shows up, shares what it knows, and makes it easier for the next person to get started.
It was also amazing to share the mic with founders from Alpaca, Workshop, Guardify, and Quantum Qool, plus partners like Invest Nebraska, Nebraska Startup Academy, and SourceLink.
Thank you to the organizers for bringing everyone together and hosting such a great event!
Shoutout to everyone who joined us at 1 Million Cups Omaha on Wednesday morning!
We got into what it actually takes to build a startup ecosystem that works. Not just big ideas, but the systems, partnerships, and day-to-day decisions that help founders get connected, move faster, and grow something meaningful here.
We also spent some time talking about Startup Weekend and why we're so excited to bring it back in June. 🫶
