After months of writing, devising, and rehearsal, the 2026 Opening Act Youth Company is bringing their original play GORGONE to Theatre Row this April.
This production is entirely created and performed by NYC public school students — a bold, imaginative, and urgent new work inspired by the myth of Medusa and the world we live in today.
Free tickets are available for general performances, and a special benefit performance and sponsor reception will take place on April 12 in support of Opening Act’s Spring 2026 programming.

The 2026 Opening Act Youth Company premieres GORGONE, an original play created and performed by a collective of bold student storytellers. Inspired by the myth of Medusa, GORGONE reimagines ancient mythology through a modern lens, exploring the hypocrisies of the beauty industry, the brutalism of late-stage capitalism, and the commodification of the bodies of the most vulnerable.
