Tonight at 9pm we are back with Oot radio. This episode is a special one as it features experimental music and recordings from Palestine and its diaspora. In this episode we are looking at extending the community because times like these require us to look beyond our local forums to find the commonalities between people in order to resist with those facing oppression. As the world continues to build support for the movement, we hope that by sharing these recordings we too can show solidarity with Palestine and their struggle for liberation and self-determination, which has been undermined by British and US backed Zionist aggression for far too long. We hope you enjoy this episode and can be encouraged to look further into the cultures and musical scenes of the Palestinian people, and to support the resistance and the fight for liberation. We are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to express ourselves within our local communities, which is why we should use this privilege to amplify the voices of those on the frontline of the struggles. Last month we released The Tuning of Soils EP by Joseph S (@moctols_ ). This five-track EP is a meditation into the intrusive, extractive, and ultimately destructive nature of rare-metal mining. Set in the future, but containing elements of the present, this work speculates on how the process of mineral extraction and resource acquisition might unfold on other planets colonised by exploitative industrial powers. The EP is available on a limited run of recycled cassettes, each coming with a fold-out mini zine/poster. LAMIA is a music artist, producer, vocalist, and practice-based research academic based in London. She combines haunting vocals, cinematic soundscapes, and industrial sounds - a noise-influenced style inspired by music production training in Berlin. LAMIA writes, performs, and produces her own material. LAMIA is currently performing 'Simulacra States', an audio-visual set made in collaboration with computational artist Brian Hart, combining 3D rendered artwork and her self-produced music (project funded by MusicBoard Berlin). Key performances include Berghain Kantine (DE), a Live Session with BBC Introducing 2023 (UK), PureGold Festival at Goldsmiths University 2023 (UK) and Changeover Festival (SRB). LAMIA has just graduated in 2024 with a Distinction in a Master of Music (MMUS) from Goldsmiths, University of London, where two scholarships supported her. LAMIA is part of SE London artistic collective Crossovers and has been involved in the Berlin-based collective Eclat Crew for several years. Her self-produced album is due for release in Oct 2024.
